After a couple of hours no less my ET1 has shown to be a bit better than the stock cable. Great for unamped use as it has more punch and is more visceral. This goes for the whole bass range up into vocals which are a bit sweeter. The stock cable seems soft now and drums and guitar lack the bit of impact gained with the ET1. Yet the stock cable doesn't sound really any brighter or cleaner which is great. Out of the package, the ET1 wasn't as tight sounding. There was a little bloat. They started hitting harder after a bit and it was easy to tell by the feel. Nice to have a more amped sound even tough I have no amps on hand atm. They sound slightly better powered even though they aren't.

Outside of that, the physical stuff:
- I like the red and that it breaks up the black scheme a bit
- I like the extra .1 meter. The ET1 is a 1.3M length
- I like the RA plug on the Pipeline better than the stock
- again I like the thicker yet softer cable on the ET1. Also not as "grippy" a rubber sheathing(more shiny and slippery than the stock one)

Now I have to get the Pipeline and hook it up backwards!

Took my Mikros to RS today, and eyeballed the Pipeline ET4.  The clerk took one out of the box and as expected it doesn't fit the Mikros OTB as others ave indicated.  Didn't get it, but like the longer 4 ft length though.  May need to have another look at it.  What is with the arrows?  A directional electrical conductor...who comes up with this marketing nonsense.  Next thing you know we will have peeps saying that the SQ is degraded if you put it in backwards.

*Official entry into the MikrosHYPE Lexicon.

Way to go, Zee Dubble-ya!!

One thing that I do like is they seem to be VERY portable. Especially with that nice hard case :)

I will.  In fact, I will buy them off you for $59 +shipping [assuming you got them from NewEgg before the Rebate offer ended].

To say that the mod simply boosts the bass would be inaccurate because in addition to the bass presence expanding--but at the same time maintaining spectral balance (no midbass hump here!)--the overall size of the soundstage seems to expand appreciably and the midrange assumes greater depth and palpability.

While the stock Mikros 90 DO SCALE WELL and present a believable, organic sense of 3-D space, the modded set seems to do all that, but even better, if you can imagine such a thing.

If I had not modded my pair, there was no way for me to expect that the Mikros 90 could possibly pull off a feat like this but--amazingly and true to their pedigree--the MLs DO.

When you think about what the mod does, it opens up all that space in the cup to the driver.  Like Lors and I have already mentioned, it lets the drivers "breathe", and cut loose with all that Mikros 90 MOJO into probably 3x to 4x the volume (in the cup chamber).

What mod are you talking about specifically?
I've noticed a bunch of mods pop up recently

Simply opening the bass port without dampening kind of messes with the SQ

ALSO:
Last call, who here is willing to part with their original acoustic material that covers the bass port (Willing to pay a bit!), mine were destroyed by me ;_;

If you're honest with that statement, I will take that on when I can afford them at mid-march.

Watch me end up getting rid of my HE-500 LOL

Thrift store purse huh.. yeahhhh, it's ok maybe SF making you do the pantyhose mod for the X1 got to you a bit? If not then it's perfectly ok to have a Man bag never call it a purse, according to SF that is.

You've got me thinking.  I have dynamat and, although I understand that it is primarily used as a damping agent, I am concerned about the reflective properties of the foil skin.

Might put down a sub-layer of the dynamat, with felt/foam/leather on top.  Also have some dense anti-static foam that I might try.

How do the MLs sound with the "dynamatBass" mod?

Wat I planned to do...
Lob off the main v moda cable, fit in a new plug...So I get a single stand alone cable.
.leave that remaining v moda 2inch v socket with original plug...
To fit into the ultrasone 1foot length extension I planned above.

That way I get a reasonably portable neat 5foot length cable made up of 3metals.

^ Chop chop away and send me the left overs!!! I want a taste of that yummy cable as well. : P

^ Welp looks like the Logans "Perfection" bar has just been raised. There are no limits meng. :veryevil:

Once I finish listening to Fragile (I can't peal these 90's off of my ears until I do), then I'm gonna dive in with the blue tac. But it is easily replaced with the Dynamat when I get it, so no rush and no worries there buddy!

Man, if the below things are the "other things", I am soooo in!

<snip> had to add Pataburd's latest prose of beauty...

I would say that the bass is fuller and closer to the [basshead] ideal.  But still "perfect" in essence.  There is more of a bass presence.  So, it is Bass in the present perfect.  : )

Get the defibrulator, Boys, I think Lors has been subterranean too long.  We might be losing him.  No one has gone that deep for this long and lived to tell of it before.

So let's just be thankful that the BASSSSSSSMODDSSSSSSSTER is still alive, even though he might have cracked his casing during the perilous journey down there.

Hmmm...you failed to convince me.  ;)

I'm sticking with my stock version since more bass would be too much for my tastes.  If I had another pair I would totally try it.  I'm tempted to get another pair but I'm saving for an another amp right now.

I'll let you guys have all the fun for now.
