I like bass lik lords...
hi max...i am thinking about the leather pads too.
if its convenient, can u post a side by side foto of these two leather pads. (side profile )
i wish to find a leather pad that looks more like the shape of the Ntunepads,
instead of a flatish pancake.
or can u tell me which one looks more like this :P
u are making me feel like i have AGEddddddddddd........guess i hav :p
^ Was just trollin' ya', but i really don't have any Eagles stuff in my collection. haha
hoho FRESH MEAT!!!
Got the Beats knock-offs yesterday evening after getting back late from work.
My perceptions agree with with yours: The BASS is BOSS with these unassuming cheapos!
ANOTHER testament to to the incredibility of the Mikros 90: Different Cable = Different Headphones. AMAZING on my He-Man rig!
Bass is like a dense plasma that is about as articulate as I have ever heard. Thick, growling, complex.
My only issue, with just 4-5 hours of break-in, is with the uber-uber treble resolution, which seems just a bit reticent: a whisper where there should be a more audible phrase. For example the tambourine on "If You Feel" from the remastered Crown of Creation disc is not as well relieved with the ersatz Beats as with the Pipeline. Also, the cheapos lack the ultimate balance and coherency of the ET-4. Right off the bus, the ersatz Beats sounded a little harsh in the highs, too, but after a few hours they began to settle down.
With the Beats knock-offs the Mikros 90 can produce prodigious bass while simultaneously resolving feathery delicate treble detail. Gracie Slick's vocalizations were AMAZING!!
Interested in your observations with more burn-in hours. I''ll hook them up to my desktop rig today for further run-in.
99 cents on Amazon. . .99 cents on Amazon. . .99 cents on Amazon. . .
. . . and a potential stop gap solution for those hesitant to do the Maxx/Lors MikrosHypedBass Mod just yet (because they have only one pair of the Mikros).
Good call, sfwalcer!!!
C'mon folks, how about a nice round of applause for the SF meng!!!
^ glad that you're diggin' the el cheap beats cable and is hearing it similar to how i heard them Godfather Pata Hypa' Priesta'. Funny that you mentioned the treble on them cuz compared to the treble of the stock cable it is a lot less fatiguing but still have good presence, so yeah not bad at all for the price. Makes these logans sound the most "mainstream/ fun" no doubt.
And it gets better with mo' burn in.
^ No need to waste precious lobotomy monies on lil' old sf, or even that alternative surgery kit, cuz has already been zombified by those damn Twinkies!!!
On a Twinkies binge in order to save up for my 2nd set and it has literally turned into one of these things which i despise so dearly.......
^ Meng what i look like a trash can??? Don't want none of those other junk, gimme yo' Logans OR STAY THE HELL OUT!!! You will have to sacrifice one to the Logans Gods ie: me, in order to get in da' brotherhood.
^ So THATS Martin Logans real hustle huh??? Trying to expand into the medical field is an ingenious move to say the least with mandatory nationalized health care and all.
Buy one Logans 90s and get a 10% off discount on your next bass head "enhancement" in your local Martin Logan clinic coming soon near you.
^ Man am i eating good today, so much fresh grub, guess i can even stash those Twinkies away for my rainy 3rd set days......
Listening to the Mikros 90 [stock] with the Beats knock-offs. Some welcome midbass fullness--recording-dependent (not a whole lot on this recording of the Guess Who's "These Eyes").
Soundstage seems not as open as with either the stock or ET-4 cables. Ditto what SF said already: some loss in transparency and resolution compared with stock cable--as well as speed IMHO. "Laughing" has some nice deep bass.
Test Track: "Pretty as You Feel" from Jefferson Airplane's 2400 Fulton Street collection. Bass is full, tight. Nice rendering of this tough track. Vocals/harmonies are intimate and well sorted out. Have really gained a new appreciation for the bass tracks on this collection: nice work by Jack Casady. The acoustic guitar work is also very enjoyable ("Good Shepherd"). "Eskimo Blue Day" . . . some great big rollin' bass licks.
Not sure how the cable changes with more burn-in. SF notes that some fullness might be lost. Could be loss of ultimate coherency across the bass bands.
For 99 cents, these cables will show you another side of the Mikros 90, a more "popularly tuned" take on things as SF also notes.
I'm off to audition the Mikros 90 with the SPL Phonitor!!!
^ Yeppp the cheapo beats cable makes these sound more conventional that is for sure, but is still a very enjoyable sound/ presentation nonetheless. Much more versatile than the V-Moda cable for me.
Happy auditioning Pata!!!
Introducing MikrosSonusBass, the most musical bass i ever heard todate in a Mikros..
for the audiophile gentlemen who want MORE musical bass..Sonus Faber smoothness,
musically integrated bass to intimate vocals, beautifully extended into the highs.
What u need to do, plaster the sidewall of each cup all around with Blue Tac as above...
Take a piece of Carven Leather ( from your wife's drawer ) cut down to size,
doubleside tape it to the base of each cup. That simple.
Beautiful flowing expansive music with my tube amps, sansa clips+, ipad, samsung Note 1
^ HOLY SCHIIT!!! IT'S OFFICIAL NOW, THESE LOGANS HAS BECOME THE SONIC GARBAGE DUMP FOR ALL THANGS LEFT OVER!!!
Just toss whateves in and BAM!!! EPICNESS.
^ LMAO spoken like a true Master........................................................................... Chef Moddster. Sprayin' ya'll to death with them incremental improvements until your head explodes.
Warning: Spoiler! (Click to show)
^ i am sure Lors is more than happy to share his wife.......................................................................... s drawer leather with us. ;)
Cuz sharing is caring meng. Spread dat' lovin'. Like i be always sayin'. :)
It has been scheduled for delivery today but tracking doesn't say it is out for delivery. First Class bad tracking updates perhaps? I'll know when my mail comes in an hour or so.
^ Alright nice, no rush meng, just wondering is alls.
Hope they are a cheapo beats cable redux BUT even more refined and has a sustained fullness/ weightiness to them that don't get burned off. haha
Well, the mikros does instruments so much justice *especially guitars* that I will now forget my other headphones existed! *except for those ws99s*
After hearing the re700s a few more times, the vocals aren't my favorite of those headphones anymore. The good reason for it is their silibance to the vocals, it's more pronounced than the martin's. The treble is about equal on both, but I will give it to the mikros for having treble a bit more forwarded than the re700s, while having the fullness to the vocals as well! Also, the grainyness on the mikros treble has vanished, so I will be leaving the re700s collecting dust. They WERE pretty good together, but now that the mikros has less of that silibance, the re700s are piercing my hearing (in my opinion).
That treble extension, that bass extension and detail, not to mention lovely mids!
GO MIKROS TRAIN! WOO WOO!
That mikro train. :P
Will end up selling some of my gear for a third pair.
