^ Hmmm maybe cuz my set was used and the previous owner did all the break in, etc ??? but the headband clamp never affected me whatsoever on these. On day one i just clamp them on a shoe box for like couple of hours and that was it.

Never stretched them or anything since and the clamp force is bad at all for me.

Geez, this thread jumped almost 100 posts since I last posted. Had to skim most of it, but it's cool to see the 90s coming along for everyone after some burn in, etc. Man, it's crazy how much of a hit these became in just a couple weeks. Last week I saw these sell out three times when I purchased my first and second order on Amazon, and now it looks like they're on backorder for 2-5 weeks.

Got mine a couple a days ago, but I've been kinda busy the last couple days. So, I've mainly been listening to the CAL2 and only tested the cable out once.

The RE-400 (as an example) or RE-262 were bass-light. I actually felt the Yammie HPH-200s were bass-light. I hear more bass in the Mikros than I did in those three phones. Again, the Mikros are just neutral sounding to me, but with more than enough bass (especially once I amped it).

The sound is FULL, with great bass QUANTITY as well as quality even with the stock cable. That's right folks the same stock cable which made them sound kinda thin/lean via my ipods/ venturecraft  portable amp shines like crazy with a warmer DAC/source such as the FiiO E17/ Vali as i have spazzed about before.

This is what i keep saying. The 90s come in at about 70-80% of the bass of the VSD1S (maybe more) and even more for the CAL2when the track calls for. It also extends a lot further. However, now that the CAL2 has tightened up some, I think that it has some nice texture that unmodded 90s lack.I plan on listeming to bass kick samples as well as songs that have their bass frequencies labeled later this week/end to really see. Plus, I still need to really test out the beats cable and my Solo pads came today as well. Now, I'm just waiting for the Sennheise cable for the CAL2 and my amp to get here.

Agreed! It's interesting because the CAL2 seems to have more clarity, but the warmth at the same time seems to effect the signature in a way that makes me not like guitars for some songs. Other than that, I like their warmth. I also agree with whoever said the 90s do pianos amazingly well. Gunther Fessl and Hank jones sound awesome.

This is actually one of the reasons why I keep hesitating to really compare the CAL2 and 90 and more or less keep leavin "disclaimers." I wonder how these will end up scaling when the rest of my stuff finally gets here. But, right now, I think it's somewhat safe for me to say the CAL2 will probably retain it's clarity advantage. But, who knows...

haha yeah. Every time I look at the 90s I think of trains, business class plane rides, and continental cars. The CAL2 kinda looks like a toy in comparison.

The sound is also different more airy & I need more time to figure out this sensory overload lol

Where'd you get the white pads from. I got the black ones, but I'm really liking how the white ones look on the 90s. Dat contrast!!!

yeah, i never had really had a problem with the clamping force either. Really, I just took them on off a bunch because each time you do that you stretch them out more than the size of your head. Both of my my pairs feel fine, but the comfort is definitely not near the CAL2. Though, the 90s don't get my ears all hot and sweaty like the CAL2 does.

The fitis better as no longer does the headphone slide around as the stock pads can shift too easily.

I am experiencing even better soundstage with new pads with original material squeezed in!
Look:

Now all I have to do is put the dense felt from Lord's mod and some bluetak..

These pads look awesome.. are there other colors?

Just found them. There's gray, white, and black. If you're from the US make sure not to accidentally click on the China link. A few days delivery will turn into an eternity.

 http://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_trksid=p2050601.m570.l1313.TR11.TRC1.A0.H0.Xbeats+solo+pads&_nkw=beats+solo+pads&_sacat=0&_from=R40

For anyone who wants black, the ones I bought from amazon came with a removal tool. It's apparently in the pic, but I didn't notice it when I ordered. I don't know if the ebay ones come with a tool, and I know it'll be beneficial for me. I keep feeling like I'm going to rip the pads each time I take them off, which happened to someone else. It was the original reason that I inquired about replacements from ML. But, now that thy're charging $7.50 a pad, this may save some money in the long run.

Scratch the amazon ones. They came glued to the disc. I'm going to see if I can get them off without messing them up.

@Maxx134

I'm assuming that your didn't come glued together?

^ What's Hotel Cali???

And yeah it is trial and error cuz we all own different sources etc etc, but every cable has its own unique characteristics so...... good to iron it all out so folks can pick the one that best matches their personal preferences. :)

I FREAKEN LOVE THE SOUND OF STOCK CABLE TBH.

^ +1 LMAO:deadhorse:

What i posted about the beats cable still stands, cuz they still make these Logans sound the most fun/ musical/ conventional in presentation. I just didn't know, nor can imagine that burning them in makes them lose some of their fullness is alls. They still got it but it is just not as overt/ bombastic as before. LoL

^ Like i be saying I HAVE ZERO RESPECT FOR EQers!!!

The glue that's on the solos I have is definitely not peelable. It's hard like cement glue (think duco or something). I had to take a razor to it and still damaged the first pad, but I think it'll still work. I'm guessing acetone would have worked, but I don't have any was being impatient.

Well. Looks like I'm on the boat.

Srs request: does anybody have the acoustic fabric to cover the bass ports and are willing to sell them to me? Mine are somewhat deterioriated haha. I want the old stock sound back and cant afford a new pair yet frown.gif
Thanks!

Welp, i pretty much paid 10 bucks for a removal tool. FML! Guess I'll have to wait and see what Maxx says or borrow some nail polish remover and just buy another pair. Shouldn't have been so impatient...

Here's the second pad. I didn't even bother fully removing this one. Word to the wise, don't due stuff like this at 2 in the morning.

I'd be willing to give you the felt from the solo pad, but I don't know how similar it is to the original.
