The experimentation with placement continues....but much better now!

He's goin' down, boys!

Another hapless--or HAPPY--victim of the EPIC!!! Mikros 90.

. . . 8! . . . 9! . . . 10!

kevb is down for the count.

You have no idea.....at least 5 integrated amps, 3 CD players, 4 blue ray players, 6 dvd players, 5 flat screen TV's 2 DAC's, 3 preamps, 4 power amps, 11 sets of speakers....    Oh, and a very patient wife....

.....until she sees the weekly infusion of new headphones.  :D

Kinda drooling over the Thinksound ON-1's right now as well....classy looking!

Meanwhile, I'll keep enjoying the Mikros....I have some of the free 24/192 downloads from 2L, and they sound excellent over flac player on the iPhone!

Me too....strangely enough.  And my wife can't use them because the arm interferes with her glasses.  :beerchug:

That's quite the luck you have! There is a way she can enjoy these mikros with her glasses, but I forgot how. Maybe Pata will answer that!

Then again...she doesn't need to know.. smily_headphones1.gif

Have fun with your pair meng! I know I am.

Well, I'm cautiously optimistic......and by cautiously optimistic I mean I have had them on for over 2 hours straight, and I'll be wearing them through dinner much to the chagrin of my wife and kids.

"How was your day girls?"  "Can't hear you!!"  "We'll talk tomorrow."

Sooooo? Initial impressions:

- Look smaller in person than I thought they would be (that's okay)

- Tight clamping indeed, but not feeling uncomfortable. I just expanded both ends some and it feels fine

- Where's the missing bass? I was afraid  (and expecting) that I would hardly hear any bass, but I hear plenty (rechecking my basshead card).

- Yes, positioning on your ears the right way is a must! Very finicky

- Wide soundstage for a close can

- Sound is not as full sounding as I expected yet, but I believe it will open up.

So, not impressed or unimpressed yet. I need more listening and burn in.

I perceive the 90 quite similarly to you in the early stages... I find the bass pretty hefty as well, bordering on basshead level. I was puzzled too by the 'bass missing' comments!

The thing I feel is lacking a bit is clarity/resolution in the upper mids and lower treble. I just feel that I hear a fair amount more detail in my SE846.... or should I say that the detail is hinted at by the Mikros 90, but you almost have to peer through murky water to notice, for lack of a better description. This area of the frequency range seems hazy/glazed over or something. I hope this aspect clears up some with run in time. I estimate I have about 20 hours or so on my set so far.

But the 90 checks all the other boxes:

Soundstage: ✓

Deep bass: ✓

High treble quality: ✓

Midrange quality: ✓

Tonality: ✓

Whoever said that the bass was missing, they just need to give it some good burn-in. :)

Or rearrange the headphones...

Or I don't know...

Beats cable?

No bass missing here....even from the outset.  Well, there was for a few moments - until I figured out how to get these to get a good seal.  Now it is forceful in the lower bass.
