I'm find some edge in the upper mids which makes them sound a bit odd at times. Vocals and detail extraction are pretty great. I wish they were open - I'm missing the extra soundstage and thud of snare drums instead of the snappy noise. You're right that they love tubes.

I have the same problem with the upper mids.

I must admit it...the kefs are a tempting headphone.....

Hmmm...I'll let you know in a month, still undecided on what my next headphone/earphone purchase will be.

Though for some nagging reason...I don't feel like buying the fostex or heavens anymore, I guess since I want my first woody earphone. And you can guess what earphone I'll buy that's made out of wood with a J and...I think it had a B...or is it C?

Some brand that was meh to sf.

Sides...I don't have my second pair with me...

plugging it into my Samsung Note 1....the MikrosHypedBass on stockcable sounds terrrrific. better than the last 6 cans i heard with it. :P

NOTE 1? :O

Awesome!

Let's switch, you get the galaxy s4, and I get that note 1 so I can have awesome sounding mikros. Jk, lol.

Looks like I may be able to do it, just need somehow get my second pair with me, I accidentally left it back at home..

Note 1 is wider, easier on my eyes. :P

Go LIBERATE your mikros, and load some lossless into your S4..and enjoy!

Modding/unsealing the base of the cups allow us to tapp it as a bass-box...
since the mod, i have tested out QUEENs, MJ, J Lo, DestinyChild, Kitaro, etc
Vocals intimate, clear highs, big clear textured bass with hardly any bleeding into the mids, or resonance...if any.
Deep spacious full blown orchestration very impressive to my ears.
i have not heard any annoying song in my albums yet..for the last hour.

Give it a shot ok guys..ENJOY !
Mmuuhahahah! !!

well.!! Looks like you officially took the lead haha ,
And its true, the mids get better with mod!

I now hand over the mod crown over to you!
Time to do your version of the mod!!
We should combine pics into one tutorial ha.

I have that dense felt but I dont have the blue tak!
Dam I only have modeling clay and that is messy so I will have to wait.
Anyway I have ro wait for both the solo & ntune pads on they way!
And...

Just got my "hording" second set to compare!

Haha!

i am sure there willl be a hundred variations in modding once people get comfy opening up THAT hole..thanks to u.

On my own, i wont pry open that little tiny "irrelevant" opening without u DOING IT FIRST :P

I dun have an I-phone to test it with... my Ipad cant seem to generate enough power to handle the bass.

My suspecion is that Martin Logan decided to seal off the basschamber, leaving just the driver..

so that the ipads iphones can power this Mikros90 easily.

(just another conjecture.. cant imagine a chamber being designed n NOT used.. hmmm )

@Lorspeaker

When you said 1/2" bluetack, did you mean 1/2" x 1/2" or 1/2" diagonally?

The Pipeline ET-4 are in, but I want to let you know that these are the 10 FOOT version of the cable.  I hope that is OK, since we are talking home use only (probably) due to length.  Input plug barrels are all WAY too big for my Mikros 90, so they will have to be hogged down a good bit.  Let me know if you do not want the 10 footer.

God willing, I will prepare the mailers over the next day or two and get these out to the Predator by week's end.  I might talk to a guy in the machine shop here, too, if that might expedite things.

No problem. Thanks again!

^ Can't wait for ya'll to compare notes and finalize the mod!!!

Regarding the hoarding.... :deadhorse:

No...just roll a small tube of blue tac about half inch length ( say diameter of a drinking straw..:P ) and try to line the inner edge of the basscup..
no hard n fast rule..if u want to line the full circumference..by all means experiment !!

Cool. Cool. Thanks! About to order that felt pad now. Have to say I'm liking the CAL2 so far, but I wouldn't mind the modded 90 getting me back my $125.
