Thanks pataburd for the tips

Ah man, feel like buying another one so I can compare stock vs. modded ones. Gonna cost me a fortune in shipping to Oz though lol

IMO, the Mikros is a lot better than the P5.

My advice to you:  get the Mikros 90s, but don't give them to her right away.  Listen to them first and you might prefer the Mikros.  You could end up getting the better end of the deal.

Thanks.  I'll follow your suggestion and see how it goes.

Saw that Venturecraft DAC/AMP.....any chance that could fit an iPod Touch 4G with a little padding and/or elastic? Might be a very nice portable solution for wife and I....if I can get around the whole "Don't ship to Canada" limitation.....

This is an easy one, Lors:

HE AIN'T YOUR FRIEND ANYMORE!!

It's the new "Litmus Test" for finding out who your friends REALLY ARE!!  [Because REAL friends have nothing but hyper-good things to say about the Mikros 90, e.g. Epic, Transcendent, Cascading from the Heavens, etc.].

Give 'em the Mikros 90 Scantron Questionnaire and be done with it!

I'm now down to four [REAL] friends.

No problemo, nehcrow.

Welcome to the Mikros 90 Madhouse!!

Keep us posted.

Maybe this thread will generate enough momentum to make Martin Logan reconsider discontinuing the Mikros 90 and start R&D on the Mikros 100 circumaurals!

Do you know if those pads are same size as a beats solo?

Burson HA-160 not scheduled to land until next Monday (2/24/14)--sigh, but Beats knock-off and UPOCC silver cables should be in later this week (I hope).

If I can find that new set of jeweler's screwdrivers I bought over the summer, one of my extra pairs might get Maxx-modded today.  Can't wait.

whats a beats solo...hehehehe.  The Ntune pads are exactly the same size as the Mikros cups. not too big not too small.

Not sure if that helps...

i like the traditional cuppypads becos it transmit the sound more directly...than the stock mikrospads.

Also it sits better, more grip along the circumference.

Paying FRACMENTORCHESTRA now..solid punching of the bass..nothing loooose.

hmmm....tested the pads on my home rig, the bass sounded alittle elevated but tight.

If i punch a few holes into the Maxxxhole, that should let out a biggerbass..to balance things out.

Think each person has to tune the can to the gear he has...cos this Mikros translate every naunces upstream

as Pataburdchief has said countless times. swapped in a Raytheon 6AS7, and everything is fine, boys..

the strindency is down..the bassbody is back in swing...NICE !

( on my ipad earlier, the redpads sounded just about right.. the ipad is less uptight i guess..:P )

LOOKS LIKE I WOULD NEED ANOTHER PAIR..one tuned for the road..one for the home. arrrghhhhh

Welp my set came in today. I just have to wait for the package to be released to me

Just bought these:

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00B1YU978/ref=oh_details_o00_s00_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Let's hope they fit.

I'll have a Fiio X3 coming in soon. Anybody pair them yet?  I'd never try that mod in a million years!  More bass?  Hah hah hah!!!  I like that flat bass thank you very much (that open headphone MDR MA900 or AD900X bass).

                                                                                                                                                   -------------

Guess on an EQ, I basically do this:---   -----                                                                                 -----

                                                            -----------------------------------------------                  -----

                                                                                                                    ----------------

If that makes any sense.

Well, the 90 are 5cm x 7cm and it says those pads are 5cm x 5cm. Iffy unless they really stretch.

Well I've been listening to them for the past 45 mins. I don't think they're comparable to the HE-6 or HD650. That said, they're still a pretty good headphone. They're pretty musical. I'm find some edge in the upper mids which makes them sound a bit odd at times. Vocals and detail extraction are pretty great. I wish they were open - I'm missing the extra soundstage and thud of snare drums instead of the snappy noise. You're right that they love tubes.
