I'm a listen to them tomorrow...I can't wait to hear the epicness of the guitar riffs, drums, cymbals, and vocals from that song!

Will check it out. I'll probably get everything from them anyway just based on the fact I like their cover art.

Vlenbo, you seeing them live? It will indeed be an epic show! I'm seeing them in March. Can't wait :-)

Lor,

The only BCL on the sale threads now is the USB version, which I don't want to pay the extra dollars for.  But am ultimately looking at the BCL as the "closer" SS amp for the Mikros 90.

Have always been interested in auditioning the Burson anyway.

For Science and "only for the Mikros" [90]!

Almost bought the Meier Concerto, too.

Gotta stop.  Got an avalanche of stuff building up.  I'll get impatient and change everything up in the system at once and be unable to track specific contributions to individual system changes.

Sequence:

Beats knock-off cable

Teds Headfood UPOCC silver cable

Burson HA-160

the Maxx Mod--then a reiteration of EVERYTHING with the stock and modded MLs

Somewhere inbetween, I am going to have to eat, sleep and go to work!  :happy_face1:

Have been running the Mikros 90 with the FiiO RC MH1.

SF says this is a "soft" cable--compared to the stock or to the Pipeline, and I am learning what he means.  With the FiiO, it's as if the better percentage of the leading edge transient front is missing.  The cable compensates more with tonal differentiation to keep individual elements distinct.  This also tends to develop a seemingly/perceptibly larger soundstage and makes vocals/instrumentation more transparent-sounding as well.  Better for "softening" tracks that you want to slow down with and luxuriate in, but self-defeating with hard driving tracks.

Really enjoyed the Western Themes disc with the FiiO.  But it is, as SF notes, a noticably softer sound.  Treble and bass extension/articulation also not as good as the stock or Pipeline.  And that gets more noticable as the quality of your sources diminishes.  With my best source and amp, the bass and treble are better integrated, better articulated and remain at flatter dB levels "way out" on the extremities.

Last night I was also switching between Dolby Pro-Logic II, DTS Neo and Direct output options and catching the distortion--mainly in the upper treble--introduced by the surround modes versus Direct over the Denon AVR-1905--with the Mikros 90.

The FUN never ends with these babies!

*EDIT:

I don't think the FiiO RC MH1 is worth the $30.99 asking price.  Maybe one half or a third of that.

Just swapped in the Pipeline and the sound really wakes up (although lacking that tinge of orange wrought by the FiiO).

Dude, I can only wish! Lucky you for having their tour come to you!

I will have to wait a while before I can go to the UK to see them in live....

I'm also using the Mikros 90 unamped.  Perhaps the Mikros 90 need to be amped to fully shine.
To me the mod totally cures any over brightness with the mids, which I prefer the fuller AND DEEPER sound.
I also feel these cans are sensitive to source as I can hear the "air" and hiss and major detailing of recordings and source equipment. So they should ALSO be easier to alter or upscale with amping.

Edit : its not that i want to write about Mikros again n again...but its the way the music is presented ..
the little naunces, forcing into my attention in unexpected ways that makes it all the more spectacular.
Now it could be the rat taH taK on the snare...moments later that vocal right upfront...soaring up n up cleanly..
the violins' cascading in layers DEEP in the background.. little little things that tells u this can is a crazygem.
+1
I have noticed this effect these can give.
Very nice.

It seems that so far supply is holding up -- the Mikros is still readily available.   I wonder when the supply is going to dry up.  We will probably going to see the major online stores list them as not in stock...and that will be the beginning of the end.  :triportsad:

If u can snag the BCL/dac at the BCL amp price, then its a good deal. u can just use the amp section.

The dac section is subpar by today's standard. No reason to pay a premium for it just becos its built-in.

I bought the Burson for education purposes too...cos its been used quite often on reviews. lol.

Love the Meier Stagedac more than the Concerto amp...becos of the crossfed feature on the dac,

On certain songs, the dac kinda projects a "stage" with bright lights before u, but its not that often.

U have your order of service laid out over the next month as the HYPE PRIEST of Mikros...lolz

No.  BCL/dac is listed at $850.  Read, too, that the USB dac is virtually useless on this unit.

I would be willing to go $500-$600 for the BCL-only.  Might try the offer, but don't think the seller will bite.

You don't sound enamored of the HA-160.  To your ears, what was their chief weakness?  BCL definitely looks like the SS amp I ultimately want to try and keep with the Mikros 90.

Maxx....can u keep refining your bass mods.... until u can name the Mikros as a HEAVYBASSHEAD can.

U will be made REAR Admiral...for a KICKASS job. :P

For crying out loud, Lors, don't you think that's enough hype?  C'mon already!!!!  It's time to move on with our lives, isn't it??!!  WELL, isn't it??!!

Don't you think it's time we offically declare a "hype moratorium" on the Mikros 90?

NAAAAHHHH!!!!  NOT A CHANCE!!!  The Mikros 90 won't allow such a thing.   :D
