Soundstage differences. The re700 wins by a hair, though it isn't fair since this is just one song, but it is for the moment. When I kept A/Bing them, I actually felt that the re700s kept the same imaging of the martins, but expanded the soundstage by at least 2 inches for the L and R sides.

More clarification? Just ask away

I sent Martin Logan an email asking them this question.  Unfortunately, the reply I received stated that they had indeed discontinued the product (no explanations in the email).

Yo vlenbo, how do the two sound signatures compare?

Switch back to stock cable and love it sound so now I'm enjoying it 😎

Like many here, I am really enjoying my Mikros

However, wearing these walking my dogs, the narrow headband makes them slip alot.

I know how position dependent these are for SQ, and was wondering if anyone has modded the headband.

I've seen some Beyerdynamic replacement headbands for sale. Do you guys think they would work?

i just bought a new beyer headband for my dt770...

tried it on the Mikros...only managed to get the two end buttons to clip on...

the rest of the buttons wont fit...the Mikros has a fat belly :P

=======

i changed the pads to a normal cupshaped type...and i think they dun shift that much.,,if at all.

Also less clammmy...no underwater sensation of the flatcup when seated wrong..

and sounds a notch more open?

Pretty sure.

I have written ML on several occasions and have not gotten any indication that they have changed their mind(s) about pulling the Mikros 90.

I made a mistake! I meant one inch wider, but with the same height as the martins. So really, it's just a noticable difference, not a HUGE one. They're both closed after all. Which is surprising, they're both pretty badass in this regard, and imaging.

The re700s are actually more around, but are also up front like the martins. At first it sounds like they're around due to the smooth nature of the sound, but then when you relax and focus just a bit, you can hear it sound similar to the martins.

The martins act the same way, except it's easier to discern since the sound is not VERY smooth, but smooth enough with the detail emphasis needed to enjoy music.

The signatures are pretty different.

The martin logans are more firm in music, as in, more clearer and sharper than the re700s. It does not have a smooth coloration to it, but it does have a lush sound that is present in the es700s, which is a type of coloration to me, but it isn't bad coloration at all.

While the martins sound lush in instruments and vocals (I heard this before and thought it was like the es700s to be honest, just not mid-centric), the re700s sound pretty airy and beautiful. They're both beautiful sounding in midrange, but the re700s have a smoothening sound that can help your ears avoid fatigue for the whole sound spectrum. The re700s have a bit more full bodied bass than the martins, and they're both on stock for now (until I get that cable!).

The highs are pretty hit and miss on both. The martins can sound beautiful in the treble, just like the re700s, but at times it has grain. Sometimes, the re700s are noticably dark, and that takes away the fun aspect of the music.

Both have pros and cons that I believe people can ignore, since these headphones are pretty badass!!

Not to mention, the re700s are quite the looker, not that the martins are any way worse. It's just on preference and taste.

Up until midnight again.

Frank Sinatra: Best of the Reprise Years (Reprise)

Eric Kunzel CPO: Star Tracks (TelArc)

Ten Years After: Cricklewood Green (EMI Deram)

Gordon Lightfoot: If You Could Read My Mind (WB)

Dean Martin: Dino: The Essential Dean Martin (Capitol)

Mullard driver is in.

Midrange to die for.

Resolution of cymbals, massed strings, differentiation of brass incredible.

Not enough "push" for Ten Years After, though.  Orchestral, jazz and acoustic venues served best with the Mullard.
