Background Noise Help (Fiio e6 & iPod 5g, headphones out)

I just got my Fiio E6 in for my Sh440 headphones and noticed if I try to use it with the headphones out of my iPod 5g I get very noticeable background noise. I've got a cheap Line out/USB cable incoming but am not sure it will fix the issue. Is noise with the 5g headphones out a common issue with a known solution or am I SOL on using the amp with my iPod?

 

 

Also, the e6 performs perfectly with my iPhone 4s headphones out.

I have background noise while I am charging battery. I think USB cable makes that noise redface.gif
