I just really hope to have mine in time to break it in and then bring it with me to the Austin meet in a week and a half.

i hope to, if not, it would not be later than next week.  i've let them run long enough, next step is to test them individually, put the covers on, clean, pack (the boxes are already taped) and ship.  i would estimate this about 30 minutes per amp

Justin,

Would you be able to elaborate on your design goals for the GS-X mk2?

What changes did you make and who is your target headphone user?

Also, please describe the quality level of components that you use?

Thanks for being so in touch with your audience here on Head-Fi.

I can see many people appreciate your work!

^ Maybe I can pinch hit for Justin here.  I know he has been busy answering questions on the BHSE thread lately.

The GS-X Mk2 will have higher power supply voltages and additional features like the pre-amp on/off switch and 4-pin balanced headphone jack.  I am assuming the beefed up power supply maybe aimed at power hungry cans like the Hifiman HE 6, but I can't say for sure.

My interest in the GS-X Mk2 is to utilize the balanced outputs for my balanced re-cabled HD800s.

Others may comment on their uses for the GS-X Mk2.

same, here:

I will use the GS-X Mk2 in this chain:

Desktop (foobar/JRiver) > Invicta > GS-X Mk2 > balanced re-cabled HD-800 (DHC Molecule SE)

as well as:

Desktop (foobar/JRiver) > Invicta > GS-X Mk2 > K+H O300 (active speakers)

I've been told by someone I have great trust in, that the HE-6 needs lots of Current not voltage and that the GS-X MK2 is more than capable of driving those headphones.

^ Probably the same for LCD-3s, eh?

I guess, but I'll only be using my HD600's and Shure se535's with the GS-X when I have it.

And seeing that I'll never own the HE-6s again, I'm very happy with my GS-X with upgraded modules. smile.gif

Likely not for the LCD-3s when comparing the GS-X with the upgraded modules vs. the newer version. I did hear some improvements going from my older Dynalo modules to the newer ones. But certainly not night and day. The HE-6s are a whole new ball of wax when it comes to power though.
