Before getting anything, I'd seen the EMM XDS1 but preferred the looks and build quality of the K-01.

My exact experiences. A few weeks after my GS-X arrived, I knew my Liquid Fire was on its way out.

I have both here: the LF (with Siemens E88CCa tubes) and the GS-X. HD800 with stock cable and LCD-3 with q-audio cable, both single ended. My impressions so far: for the HD800 the GS-X mk2 makes a big difference (as I wrote in an earlier post in this thread). For the LCD-3, the difference between the two amps is (IMHO) less significant. If you are looking for the best amp for the HD800... go for the GS-X mk2. If you own/like the LCD-3 and have an LF, then I would rather put the money into a better source (DAC), than into another amp. The LF is still an excellent amp.

^ Anything you'd like to share about the HD800s + GS-X compared to the BHSE + SR009s ?   Or the LCD-3s?  I'm especially interested in the sound stage since some have said the HD800 is more spacious.  Thanks.

Yup.. I agree...  Look no further..

Go as far to say this is the only solid state amp to really let the HD800 do it's thing.  The Soloist also does but at about 80%.  Other amps I've had fell into 'make the HD800 plain garbage' compared to other cans.  Which is to say other cans are really good at covering up the flaws in an amp.

For HD800's, massive overkill

Gotcha...

Can a gain switch be added to the Dynahi?

I haven't done a direct A/B between the dynahi and the GS-X mk2, but I that the GS-X mk2 was better with the HD800.  Of course this is going on  auditory memory from a couple of months ago (which makes this questional) and I have money invested in the GS-X mk2 and was just listening to the Dynahi.  It's also worth noting that while the HD800 reveals lesser amplifiers, it is only moderate hard to drive.  I would think the Dynahi might outshine the GS-X with headphone that are more power hunger.

I had the Siemens E88CC tubes in mine and I still prefer the GS-X with both my LCD-3s and HD800s. Agreed the differences between the LF and GS-X are less with the LCD-3s and wider with the HD800s.

The wait is finally over eek.gif the GS-X is comfortably sitting in front of me.darthsmile.gif I've had a quick listen sounds awesome so far and will give a better description of SQ after 100 or more burn in time. However I do have a question if someone could help us out.

I'm using the Fostex TH900 SE 25Ω gain set to low, but I'm finding I need to have the volume around to 2 o'clock or more for ideal listening levels. I have briefly had the gain set to medium which is more normal for me using the TH900s at 10, 11 o'clock. So I just want to be careful and ask what gain should I use so I don't end up over driving ether HP or AMP?
