The HeadAmp GS-X and GS-X MK2 Thread - Page 29

If not for the black jacks, I would agree, but IMO it ruins it.

The GS-X with the silver faceplate and black sockets is perfect for me, because I have the same with my BHSE and the GS-X will be positioned below the amp section of that BHSE.

Was just thinking last night as I went to bed that we had not yet seen pics of the silver.  Glad I went that route!

Justin, any chance we can see what the front panels for the power supply will look like?

Wow, silver looks stunning.

Philips heads on screws around headphone sockets not so hot though.

Because I don't know anything about what's involved in building headphone amps, [ or anything to do with audio ] I asked Justin whether it was possible to have standard headphone sockets  [ like on the GS- 1 ] along with the 4 pin XLR, instead of the dual 3 pin / standard headphone sockets. Justin said it's not possible to make that kind of alteration.

Possible when - now?  How would that look?

Anything is possible if one you are willing to wait and two pony up the price difference.  My GS-X has a 10K DACT instead of the default 50K.  Wasn't a free side grade though.

What's the difference/advantage?  How much is the upgrade?

Advantages are theoretical and the cost was $200.  On paper there should be less noise pickup and a larger bandwidth.

Is there a finer gradation in the attenuation?  The only attenuator I could find at DACT was the CT2-10k  which is apparently the one you have.  It indicates a 0.5 db per step.  I don't think I'd want something with a more coarse adjustment.

Maybe Justin could weigh-in on this?
