I guess we are a little off topic here already with the price discussion but what can you do when you are waiting for the next batch of GS-X MkII ? ;-))
Not only VAT or local sales tax, also the competitive situation in the market place influences the "creative process" of setting a price. A pair of Levis Jeans here in the US is somewhere around $30 to 40 on sale maybe only $25 each, if you buy two. The exact same pair of pants cost about 90 Eur over in the old world. Mind you that all of these pants are made in low wage countries.
A pro grade Stihl chain saw (made in Germany) is around 1000 Eur in Germany and $700 in the US.
Does it makes sense from a consumer perspective ? No it does not, I fully agree but that's the way it will always be, unless we have a complete open market place with no trade barriers and you can order globally without import duties.
