Not much activity in this thread lately because I guess a lot are still waiting for their GS-Xes. (Including me biggrin.gif )
This is my first big amp ugrade and my first time venturing into the world of SS. (Been a tube guy so far). But the impressions and reviews have been great and thought it would be nice to have both SS and tube at my disposal.

I was considering a Stratus or EC but the it took me 3 years of tube rolling before I got the sound right on my current amp..and I didn't want to go through that hassle and expense again.
With all the great new TOTL headphones coming out I wanted something that would work with a wide range of hps. (Right now I have OTL which really only works well with my Beyer T1s and Senns)

Anyhow, looking forward to this amp. (Hopefully it delivers by Christmas) bigsmile_face.gif

Hope so too, googo Santa Justine!! Or at least as a new year gift...

I know it's kinda silly but what does it mean "TOTL"?

I'm excited about the progress too. Nothing like great music to be through the winter months inside.

Quick question: Does anyone know if the feet on the GSX are detachable? That is, are they on threaded rods? I'm designing a custom rack and am thinking of replacing the feet with custom brass spikes. I think brass spikes would look awesome contrasted on the black GSX.

I'd prefer it to be shipped earlier as shipping can get hectic around Christmas time... If they aren't done by mid December I would say we'll see them after New Years.

the batch in production now has threaded bottom panels instead of nuts, so you can remove the feet. note that if you go more than 0.15" into the enclosure, you will be hitting the circuit board! this could be a big problem. maybe i shouldn't have let them be unscrewed..

That's perfect, Justin. It should be noted that most off-the-shelf cones and spikes come with male 1/4"-20 or M6 threaded rods, which as you point out would create a huge problem. But I can have the rods cut to an exact length to avoid that problem. What is the thread size (diameter)? 20? M6?

the threads are #8-32, i think. i wouldnt use 1/4-20 or M6 even if you enlarged the hole in the panel and threaded it. the panel is .087" thick so you're not going to be able to get enough threads in it.

Thanks for the information, Justin. I hope it provides a useful reference here for any other owners who consider such a modification.
