The DACT attenuator vs. the Alps one.

Do most people prefer the DACT? I ordered a GS-X a few days ago and selected the DACT option, since it seemed to be an upgrade, but in all honesty I'm not really sure about the SQ differences.

In theory, the channel balance should be better with the DACT attenuator. My old GS-X and now GS-X MKII both had/have a DACT attenuator, but the Alps can let you zero in better on the exact volume you want (unless you have a DAC with a pre-amp function).

As long as the DACT isn't too fine, it shouldn't be a problem.

Lack of experience on my end gives some trepidation. I figure it shouldn't be too

terribly difficult to switch out to an Alpha, if needed. OR So I hope. Ha.

OK, thanks guys. I'll stick with the DACT.

Quick correction it's an Alpha not Alps pot.

Just ordered the GSX after Justin replied saying that I will be on the current batch list. I just can't imagine myself waiting that long for it if I have to be in the 3rd batch. After just selling lcd-2, I am thinking now whether to get lcd-3 or hd800 since both seem to match incredibly well with GSX based on the comments here. I am actually leaning towards LCD-3 as i really enjoyed lcd-2 on my master 8 which i also just sold, but I feel that I haven't really heard hd800 on any amp capable enough to bring out its best. First world problem here... Dac is master-7.

did he give you an idea as to when to expect your amp?

Nope, I just believe he will be working to his best ability to deliver the amp as soon as possible without compromising his high standard of quality. On our part, i guess we can only pray that nothing goes wrong in the assembly smily_headphones1.gif

Well I've finally slapped down a deposit with Addicted to Audio for one of these amps - reserving one of the two amps coming to Aus in this batch!

Not really a fan of Addicted to Audio, I was in contact with them leading up to making my purchase, and they said numerous times the pricing of the first batch of GSX mk2 will be the same as the mk1, however had to pay $630 more because then they said I needed to pre-order for that price, which was total BS they just knew I really wanted it and the only way was through them.  Also side note:- this was when the Australian dollar was way higher than USD

So at the time the rest of the world "first mk2 batch" I think around, correct me if I'm wrong $2,500  where in oz Addicted to Audio $3,074.50

If I can avoid it, I will never buy off Addicted to Audio again

You gotta include GST as well in your calculation. Even if you purchase directly from Justin it is probably guaranteed you will pay GST when it gets through customs - just ask any of the UK/Europe kiddos who have had to pay VAT when they bought their amps.

I had no problems dealing with Addicted to Audio for my preorder - George was polite and helpful the whole time. He also helped me out a great deal about a year ago when I bought my WA2 by helping me diagnose a noisy tube issue - sent me replacement tubes for free and promptly too. So I've only had great service from them to be honest.

Wish I was in Melb so I could just pop in though.

I hear you but disagree with GST + with the Aussie dollar at a record peak high at the time. That's also beside the point with what they said the price was going to be

Anyhow the GSX is worth every sent, you will love it beerchug.gif
