The HeadAmp GS-X and GS-X MK2 Thread - Page 89

I've thought of that too, but I haven't read any comparisons between the MKII and Dynahi, and don't know if anyone has both. Unlike Purk I found I enjoyed the Zana Deux more than the GSX that I auditioned briefly. While I loved the Gilmore Lite and GS1 that I once owned, the Zana just hit that chord of euphony for me, and has since remained my favorite piece of equipment. Maybe I just have an affinity for a mid-centric sound and extra-spacious, layered presentation, not sure. I'll likely go with a BA and then catch an audition of an MKII to see if it can replace the Beta and/or Dynahi. On that topic, how does your Beta fare against the MKII?

The statement above was with the HD800 being used from more than a few folks.  This is just based on some research that was done by me.

Hands down win for the GS-X mkII / HD800s.

Yeah, I understood it that way. I read likely the same accounts of the Dynahi and the people that believe it's best of the Dyna world. I'm just trying to determine where the MKII stands now and what kind of growth went into the years that separate it from the earlier models.

The other option, for quite a bit less, would be the 2A3 in the works that uses a high freq heater like the BA.

I had ordered a GS-X MK II last week, but I have a question: how do you confirm your orders?

Because I find there is no option I can choose the color and operating voltage, just get a invoice ID.

Will the Headamp send me another e-mail talk about they already accept my order and ask me the amp's color and voltage?

I already send a e-mail to Justin, but you know, no response.........

So, I am here to seek your experience and hope Justin will see this post.

hi, sorry i cant find the email to reply to.  but yes, i will send an email later asking about the color/voltage

Yeah, were it not for the missing pre and the better PS in the BA I would have strongly considered it.

Cough ask Craig for pre out instead of speaker taps cough ;)

I thought the newer PS was on par with the BA - no?

Better as far as I'm concerned.

Hey guys! I'm looking forward to making a new Headphone rig and was wondering if you guys could help me out. The headphone I'm leaning towards is the Audeze LCD-3 with either the Headamp GS-X MK2 or the Schiit Mjolnir. Which amplifier do you like better with the LCD-3's? Also, once you help me choose which amplifier I should go with, which DAC would go well with this combination. Thank you guys!

GS-X mk2, PWD2... Done.

Thanks Solude! How does the PWD2 sound via Coax S/PDIF? I heard USB for audio could reproduce a lower quality sound. Is this true? Which connection sounds best with the PWD2: USB? Coax S/PDIF?, Etc. I'm going to be connecting the rig to my Desktop Computer and will be listening to FLAC files. By the way, would FLAC be a good source for this purpose of listening? I heard FLAC is pretty much exactly the same sound as CD :). Thanks guys!

The PWD II I've heard was not that good sounding. The ones that apparently do sound good are the MKI upgraded to MKII. The analog board is different, some have said. I haven't heard an upgraded MKI so my only audition was the MKII which didn't impress. I would do more research before blindly following Solude's recommendation.
