The GS-X MK1 was based on the Dynalo. I'm not a DIY-er, but I'm pretty sure that parts for it have been discontinued for a while. It's not an AMB design btw, it was designed by Dr. Kevin Gilmore.

The new MK2 is based on Justin's (HeadAmp) new Dynalo+.

Dynalo+ is a Dynalo with SMD parts and higher bias.  Which as it happens is enough to improved the results but it's still a Dynalo in a big picture way of looking at it.

Hi, everyone~

I had ordered a GS-X MK II last week, but I have a question: how do you confirm your orders?

Because I find there is no option I can choose the color and operating voltage, just get a invoice ID.

Will the Headamp send me another e-mail talk about they already accept my order and ask me the amp's color and voltage?

I already send a e-mail to Justin, but you know, no response.........

So, I am here to seek your experience and hope Justin will see this post.

He will contact you when the time is right.  Don't worry he always seem to get it right.

@ LED04

Last week I PM to Justin talking about GS-X build options (color, attenuator type, voltage, waiting time).  He responded me quickly 2-3 times a day and finally I'm on waiting list.

And he made paypal's invoice which had this note "GS-X mk2 (silver w/ DACT, 220v) 25% deposit".

So you can PM him to get everything you want.

Best,

Has anyone had the opportunity to hear the Balancing Act and GS-X MKII? One of these two will likely be my next amp, so any impressions would be valued. Justin's KGSS and Craig's Zana Deux are the amps I enjoy most in my stable, which doesn't make this decision one bit easier.

How does that D hi sound with the HD800?

Probably not a fair fight for GS-X MKII given that the BA is around $1500 more expensive not including tubes.  I can confirm though that the Justin's Dynalo amps (GS-X MKI & II, and Gilmore Reference Balanced) are noticeably better sounding than the Zana Deux.

Can't say as of yet, I haven't plugged them in. I just finished building a 6.5 foot rack for most of my equipment, where before it would have been a logistical nightmare to tote the Dynahi across the room every time I wanted to listen.

Using the Zana into the Beta has been, for a while now, the best combination I've heard from a dynamic that I never really felt compelled to try anything different with the HD800. The Dynahi, however, is a success with my T1's, giving them a fun-factor that was ostensibly missing before. I'll let you know once I've tried the HD800.

OK - I thought you gave them a go already.  "Some" say the D hi is the best SS Headamp ever made.  Not including comparisons against newer amps ie.. LAu, Shiit Statement and GS-X mkII.

In a time before the HD800, LCD-3, HE-6... I thought the HeadAmp Reference and SFT Dynahi were near impossible to tell apart.  Take that for what its worth in a world of HD650s.

Depending headphones I think.  The Gilmore Reference Balanced that I have is nothing shot of a wonderful amp when pairedwith my R10 & Qualia, which are both low to medium impedance phones.  However, I can see the Dynahi pulling ahead with more difficult to drive headphones like the HE6, LCD-3, and HD800 though.
