[REVIEW] Sony MH1 – The Best Kept Secret - Page 216

I got the white mh1 and they do sound a little different in comparison to my black mh1c.

White mh1 sounds cleaner, less bassy, better treble extension, more balanced overall, lol. The black one sound a little boomy, but smoother in comparison.

They use different filters, i think that's why they sound different.

Are 750's tips are fitting well with MH1C?

Cut off a piece of an MH1 tip stem and put it on the barrel of the MH1, then fit the tip over that.

Will that work? I would think it would make it too thick for the 750 tip.

Poop! I've been meaning to add this little tidbit for a while. If you are suffering a channel imbalance check the actual bore diameters of the tips. Never occurred to me to do this, but under the right light a difference of about a half a mm became apparent on a pair of the Sony tips. I measured them and sure enough they were different

So is there any consensus on the best tips for these? Stock tips fall out too easily. I like the headphones otherwise, great for work, laid back sound signature and the mic is an awesome addition.

Considering getting some cheap custom silicone earplugs, anyone have experience with this?

You would want to check to make sure you get the full complement of tips with that.

You can try RHA MA 750i, they have tighter bass (still bass heavy)  and more top end sparkle.

If you want a complete and total upgrade from these MH1/Cs it would have to be the FAD HEAVEN V and the Sony XBA-H3.

The FAD HEAVEN V is very similar in sound with a tighter and more refined presentation cuz of its better extension in the highs, more lush forward mids and tighter deeper lows of similar quantity but much better quality. Pretty shocking to hear such a full dynamic and natural sound from a single balanced armature driver iem tbh. A complete upgrade to these Sony MH1/C without a doubt that can be had for under $200 these days.

But if you want the GRAND DADDY sound of these MH1/Cs with a even bolder/ deeper/ mo' bombastic bass both in quantity and quality the H-3 takes the cake. The Sony XBA-H3 is even a upgrade to the FAD HEAVEN Vs for me cuz the sound is sweeter, smoother, bolder, bigger and overall even more refined. The hybrid tech implemented on these are very natural and holistic sounding with great timbre and its much more musical/fun sounding than other hybrids such as the DUNU DN1000s which seems to do everything "right" but doesn't really connect you to the music in an emotional level due its very pedestrian/ unoffensive presentation.

if you can handle the MASSIVE/ BULKY size/ fit of the Sony H3 then i would go with those, if not i would go with the FAD HEAVEN V for a much more subtle look/ smaller size.

But since i am a cheap bastard and is sooo happy with the sound of my re-cabled Sony MH1 i don't really feel a urgent need to get the FAD HEAVEN V nor the Sony H3 tbh...... that is until their prices drop real low then it's tyme to go in for a killing and cop a set.

What about the Fostex? ^

Hi there! I've bought pair of MH1 today. Unfortunately, it doesn't work properly on my Cowon J3 player (the sound is just not right). I have Cowon i9 also, and they are working fine on it. I have also cable with 3,5mm jack which I used for phones with short cable. I tried to use this cable on MH1 and the sound is good, but it works only one earphone o_O Is there any possible way to solve this somehow? I know about EC250 adapter, but its hard to get in my country. Thanks.

Almost done with a sexy to-the-driver recable if anyone is interested. It is black mh1 with a clear copper cable. Yet to have a connector put on it.

These are legit. I purchased them a couple of months ago from this seller. These were my second set, mostly because I wanted the adapter. Which by the way allows all controls to work on Windows Phone if anyone was wondering.
