See, just now I listened to the Sony MH1-C on my Sansa Clip+ with Fiio E5 amp set to bass boost. I set the bass on the Clip+ to 10 out of 20. The bass sounded flat relative to my Cyanogenmod setup it's crazy.

In Cyanogenmod (with DSP Manager and Jetaudio) the bass sound transforms into something so powerful and beautiful and full without compromising the mids and highs. You really have to try it to experience it; it's only a matter of rooting your phone to Cyanogenmod and getting Jetaudio, but only if you don't care about your phone's warranty? But DSP Manager can run on ANY android phone so yeah. I only rooted my old LG P500 for use as a dedicated mp3 player and it beat my Cowon iAudio U3. I swear if you're not a basshead the bass transformation is something that you have to hear for yourself.

The programmer for DSP Manager wrote a brief explanation of its uses here. But the most striking thing is that its Bass Boost setting is unlike any bass boost setting I've heard ever. Even the Fiio E5 can't transform bass like that.

THAT'S GREAT I'M ONLY WILLING TO TRADE MY MH1 not the MH1-C but you have to figure out how to make it work without having to press the middle button? Otherwise the MH1 sounds the same as the MH1-C. But then that would be unfair of me. I'm really interested about the FXD-80. How good is the FX40 compared to the FX101 bass-wise?

And yeah those high frequencies might be dangerous to the delicate hair cells in my ear. I don't know lol but it's just that I've read about the Burn-in phenomenon (especially helpful is Rin Choi's objective measurement of burn-in) and how the audio cortex stores patterns and judge auditory stimuli with it, that I felt it's only a matter of getting used to, and it turned out to be true. But really though, I started this $300 budget-fi binge when I bought the CX870 so I guess you can tell I didn't want to accept I threw $30 away for sibilant headphones haha. "This sibilance means it boasts its capability to drive those high frequencies" I tell myself at night.

Actually I want to get a pair of MH1 cuz it got that spiffy sony logo. LoL I think i know how to deal with the MH1 sound issue i hope. As am I regarding the FXD-80s but never got to it, and now with JVCs FXZ100/ 200s out, the 80s is on the bottom of the list.

Ok then i am gonna give you a PM, the FX40s is more refined than the FX101s but the bass/ sub-bass on it is no slouch. Lets just say they do justice to the bass but with an audiophile flare in their sonic presentation when compared to the FX101s. You will see when you get them, if you can stand the treble of the FX101s these FX40s should be no problem at all.

Any thoughts on if this is the real deal and whether to chance it from this seller?

So is there a consensus on Comply tips? Cause I lost one of the smallest tips, and those are really the only ones that fit in my ear, so I need another one of the smallest ones, or a comply or similar tips. Alternatively, does anybody in the Toronto area want to send me their unused smallest-size tips? :D I'll pay the shipping and then some.

I was able to buy a pair off of Amazon for ~$35 about a month ago but I lost them the same day I got em. Have not been able to get my hands on a pair since(for that price).

I have read the explanation between the mh1 and mh1c on the first page but still its not clear to me if I can use the (old) MH1 version with my iphone to only listen to music and dont use any buttons or mic
