Where is the position that lets me dictate what kind of headphones you'll be building in the future?

I'll settle for a modest 6 figure amount and all the headphones I can listen to biggrin.gif

Seriously though - great to see this here. Hope you find some good people!

I'm very interested in this company.

Oddly, this is almost exactly what I currently do - among other tasks of course, as I tend to go a little farther back in the supply chain than just marketing.  It's hard work, but being at the helm of a brand can be very rewarding.  This is especially true when you can see a rise in market share as the fruit of your labor.  I encourage everyone who may be interested to apply.

Debbie, out of curiosity, would you say that this is more or less what Eric Palonen used to do?  Or is this a wholly new position?

Actually, you'd be surprised how creative (and daunting) some of this can be.  The singular benefit that Beats has brought to the industry is that they have conditioned an entirely new generation into accepting a higher MAP.  This should have opened the doors for the old guard to step in and increase market share.

Unfortunately, they were a bit slow in responding.  So they're now in a position of having to convince this new generation of portable audio consumers that they were there all along with superior products - without saying the public equivalent of "Hey everyone, look at us too!" - which would of course put them into an immediate disadvantage.  To turn a storied brand into a second-fiddle underdog from the start is handing over a huge advantage.

I don't envy the VP of Strategic Marketing here.  He's got quite a task on his hands, and some elements of his strategy will need to be handled very deftly and delicately.

Anyway, didn't mean to thread crap.  Just wanted to point out that it's not as easy and getting people to audition the gear if you know what I mean.  smile.gif
