I'll take that risk to get 50% off personally, I bought them off head-fi folks too. Had one 400 with a driver or connection failure but otherwise just from browsing here there seems to be fewer instances of driver failure on HiFiMAN over ears then the much more expensive Audeze ones, it's just their cables that suck in my experience.

Blah, I rather give my money and support to a company that deserves being supported, but to each their own. I rather not support a bad company or bad product(s) but everyone likes to spend their money differently which is fine. It's been said before, there are better more reliable offerings out there. HIFIMAN should step up and do a recall and address it once and for all honestly. HIFIMAN is such a love hate story, it's sad.

I agree also. When I received my first original in box brand new set they looked flawless on the case housing. When the cable failed and I received a replacement the housing was scratched and chipped. They were NOT the same pair I sent in. Obviously they gave me someone else's returned abused older set that they refurbished. Man on top of the cable failing that was another slap in the face salt on the wound. Don't expect to get your original received pair back as you won't! No way no how. You get someone else's used repaired set.

Agreed but unfortunately I don't think there's another planar out there that has a signature I like and will compete with the HE-560 for $450.

Got a Norne Hypershort adapter to use my RE-600 with my iPhone while walking to work (too damn hot out to wear my PM-3s) and I do still think they sound amazing and even best the PM-3 in imaging, separation and detail but lack the sub-bass, impact and smoother mids.

Ha! So they now admit there is an issue and created V2.

Yes, I just saw that. Amazing. Now, the right thing to do would be to offer a reduced upgrade price to all the people who owned "Version 1". But I wouldn't bet that anything like that is going to happen.

Actually the right thing to do is exchange no questions asked, no cost. This is their defect they should eat the fault/loss/cost not us. I already called and emailed them as I happen to fall within the one year to see if they are going to exchange their faulty product now that they publicly admit there is/was an issue. I am waiting for their response. June who answers the phone said they likely will exchange. Now the question is there a cost or not.

I would love to retract all I've ever said about HIFIMAN as I'm sure others too so they can win everyone back that got screwed by a defective product.

Unfortunately, so far, HiFiMAN hasn't addressed the users who want to continue to use the balanced (non S) version.

It maybe next to be addressed. One step at a time I guess. I would inquire. Email them customerservice@hifiman.com see what they say.

I may give them a call and see what their plans are.
