Astrotec Stepping Up to Become a Big Player - Page 3

For me it is interesting too. I compared them with Sony MDR 470,with a sound of my Maranz /B&W loudspeacer system.
It is closer to sound of good stereo system with Silver cables....

The AM900 has some pretty unique features:

  • 3.5mm gold plated plug fits for most electronic devices
  • Delivers impressive bass response and clear mid-high range notes for incredible sound with every kind of music
  • Transparent bullet-proof fiber cable with high tensile, moisture absorption, excellent flame resistance functions
  • Enjoy wonderful music anywhere and anytime with this premium earphone
  • Now we have Blue for optional, please let me know if you prefer Blue color.
  • Permanent magnet high performance moving-coil unit
  • Bayer X-EK multilayer sound vibration membrane, more clear sound and details
  • CCAW lightweight coil, more wide frequency response
  • cable grade bulletproof transparent silk strand, tensile antiperspirant, reducing stethoscope effect
  • high elastic antibacterial silicone sets
  • special adjusting technology, effectively inhibit high-frequency short-tempered, reducing distortion
  • high resolution, frequency of balance, nature link, frequency response curve more smooth

My choice would be the red AM800...

The AM800 is a newer model with better specs and better impressions though there seem to be few impressions of either(on a basic search without really hunting down that much).

Not personally interested, but I know others are; Forever Source Digital (parent company of LEAR and other stuff) posted an actual picture of the hybrid... I'm still underwhelmed by the overall quality, but at least those cables look like they might be able to be modded to accept MMCX plugs and perhaps get some Shure/UE900-compatible cables in.

Me too. Not a single review/impression?

A short impressions about Astrotec AX 7. I do not claim to absolute truth, because the equipment is not audiophile grade, so I just tell you about what I hear.

About equipment ( source):

1.Notebook Fujitsu Lifebook A seria with Realtec soundcard. Program - Foobar 2000, verse 1.2.3.

2. Google Nexus 7 , Tegra3. Program Neutron music player v.1.7.1. NEON

3. Phone Nokia X6 with stock player

Others headphones :

- Koss the plug

-Brainvawz R1

OEM - Sony MDR 470, Bose Quite Comf 15

Music

1. Andrea Bocelli "Perfido" 2013 FLAC 816 kbipsx16 bit

2. Bowers&Wilkins " Audiofile records" 2004 FLAC 832 kbipsx 16bit

3. Glenn Gould "J.S.Bach. English Suits.BW 806,809,810" audiocode Monkey Audio 509 kbipsx16 bit

4.Heifetz, Primrose, Piatigorsky -J.S.Bach Concerto for two violines in D Minor BW 1043 ALAC

5.Pink Floyd "Dark Side Of The Moon" FLAC 842 kbips x 16 bit

6.James Carter "Chasin' The Gipsy" 2000 FLAC 855 kbips x 16 bit

7.Cassandra Wilson "Closer to You" 2009 FLAC 2009 784 kbips x 16 bit

8.Deep Purple " Machine Head" FLAC 952 kbips x 16 bit

9. Nightwish " Century Chaild" 2002 mp3 x 320 kbips

10. Gentle Giant 1970 AAC

So, I'd try to cover different styles and different formats.

Any equalizer was not used for any sound source.

Impressions:

Bass - very fast, delicate, but depends on quality of record. For (2 - B&W) bass is perfect, but if You listen (8-DP) - bass is non enough.

Mid bass - wery good. Good support for male\femal vocal, but never mix with midrange. True for every stile from jazz to Nightwish.

Midrange - clear and  detailed. You can listen and feel all the details - breath of singer or artist, vibrations of guitar string, echoes of piano case, all nuances and features af violin player.

Treble - airy, without distorsions and SSSSS effects for womans vocal.

From headfones above, only Bose QC15   at first seem to be best comparsion, but it is true  for hard rock style only. Jazz, vocal and Classic has  much more interesting and detailed sound with Astrotec. Sound stage is the best with Astrotec in each case. It is very wide and deep.I got one idea - may be this IEMs Astrotec should be used with the amphlier to discover  theirfull  sound/musical potential.

The best sound i got with Fujitsu, the worst with Nexus. But I not sure Nexus really got good amphlier. Bose QC15 has their own amphlier inside....may be that's why they are sound well with different sources.

It is only my personal impressions, so don't get angry and sorry for my English - it is not my native language.

P.S. Just listened Pink Floyd  at Nokia X6 again. It seems that Nokia has better amphlier, then my other sound sources. Bass is not good but not too bad.

I could only imagine how much better it'll sound with better SNR Players like Cowon or iRiver. Probably hearing midrange heaven. You're lucky. :P

100% agreed!!! But I haven't got Cowon:(((((. I'd bought it for Nexus 7 but....now I use R1 with Nexus and Astrotec with Fujitsu.  May be later I'll bay Cowon or something else.

Go for the Cowon J3 or Z2. Those are the best ones because of portability and battery life.
