Best PC/laptop audiophile speakers + amp? <500$

Hello guys :)

 

I've been reading this forum 24hours/day and i am totally confused.

 

I have Toshiba laptop and i decided to buy new speakers (2.1). I had Logitech z-5500 but i didn't like it (they aren't good for listening music). I am looking for smth better.

 

I have decided to buy an dac/amp (fiio e17 because it's also portable and can use it for headphones), but i don't know which speakers should i buy.

 

I heard that audioengine 2 are good, b&w mm-1 (they are pretty expensive and have no subwoofer), ...?

 

I like listening classical songs, pop, soundtracks (bass is important) and i also like watching movies (but i need 2.1 system).

 

Which one should i buy? Please, help me :)

Hmm perhaps incorporating a nice 8-10" active sub would give low end u crave for the movies and some genre of music ^^ Perhaps based on your budget you'd like to have a look at stuff like BIC F12, Energy 10.3 and Polk PSW505?

Those are good subs for at/around $200. Too bad Newegg has the S10.3 discontinued right now. It was one of the best in SQ for music at the price.

They are OK for desktop multimedia speakers with tiny drivers. Depends on what your SQ and volume expectations are, your needs regarding size, and whether or not you have room for separate electronics. 

 

I have Energy RC-10s in one computer setup in my house running off an old HK receiver, and they sound great. Something like the Audioengine 2 with it's smaller tweeter and 2.75 inch driver won't complete with the 1" tweeter and 5.5" inch driver on the RC-10s.
