Teac Reference Line UD-501 USB DAC "DSD" - Page 31

I used to own the Asus Xonar Essence One with Muses, I really miss the sound signature of the Muses quite a bit that I need to get it back... However I didn't like the Asus dac itself which is why I'm here.

My question is can anyone here confirm that the sound signature is somewhat the same but with a better package with the Teac?

Cheers,

Has anyone else had a problem with the clock in the UD-501.

Mine has trouble locking onto a sample rate.  Frequently (at least once per listening session), the sample rate randomly changes -- i.e., from DSD to white noise to PCM.

I find this very annoying, since, unfortunately my warranty is up.

I have seen posts on others sites that others have had problem with the clock, and firmware would likely fix this.

However, Teac has never issued any firmware updates.

Nope, no such problem. Probably around 2000 hours on mine with not one problem.

Does anyone know if this DAC is worth for Sennheiser HD 650? I'm wondering if buying this instead of ASUS essence one MKII  is the best decision. Some say the UD 501 needs a headphone amp separately....!!!! is it true?

I asked pretty much the same question awhile back still no answer.

I had the ASUS essence one as a dac/amp it had a few problems.... However the Muses op-amps gave it a beautiful sound. UD 501 only has one problem with what I've read and its with the DSD sometimes changing back to PCM with white noise.

Still I would go with UD 501, E1 had bigger problems

Ok, so the UD 501 is worth the price? Is it just a DAC or also an headphone amp?

Dac/amp combo

Hi Guys,

I am new to Teac products, willing to upgrade from my Geek Pulse SFi, which is a dual mono DAC with Femto clocks and bla bla bla. What do you suggest?

I have read some great reviews on other websites about Teac 501, not so many about 503 so far. I was just wondering if anyone having Geek and a Teac has compared them both. Please feel free to PM if it is off topic about 503.

I am interested to buy internationally.

Thanks

LR
