The reason why the FXZ200 sounds noticeably better is because of the housing material and cabling, it is made with a more rigid metal and the cables on the FXZ200 are made of oxygen free Silver which I felt brought out greater resolution.

 

EDIT: Correction it seems that the cables are made of oxygen free copper that are silver plated.

Wow! Thanks for the tip Donnyhifi. Unfortunately I ordered the FXZ100 this morning before reading this. I was going to get both anyway. Maybe I might go ahead and order the FXZ200 too and be done with it. So you didn't like the FXZ100 at all? If not, why?

I think I'll wait until after Xmas to get the FXZ200. Why? Well, the FXD80 and FXZ70 are really different, yet I enjoy both for various reasons (although the FXD80 is clearly superior). So I think it will be the same with the FXZ200 and FXZ100. In addition, there was a little delay, but I should see my 1964 EARS V6, finally today, and I'm really enjoying my TDK dual dynamic IE800. I'm enjoying the depth, soundstage and instrument separation so much that I might go again and plunge for a it's dual BA sibling, the BA200 (especially since the price is hovering between $135 - $145 right now). I'll be little patient for the FXZ200 now.

Well from a technical standpoint...lol. But it also depends on your preferred sound signature. If you like a more balanced sound, then you might find the FXD70 superior. 

On Amazon 100 shows up listed from Japanese sellers. The 200 is not yet listed. Prices are high too.

How do you guys manage paying so much importing??

Look up Tenso forwarding service.  Register to make an account. Then use their address they give you for when you purchase from Amazon Japan. They give you an exact template that shows what to put for the shipping part. They ship to Tenso located in Tokyo. And once Tenso gets your items. They charge a small and reasonable handling fee and then charge for shipping using EMS and off it goes to you. It is literally simple as that.

A bit of warning. This also opens up Amazon Japan to you. That is a good thing but can be a bad thing. I was looking at so many goodies from Amazon Japan last night. Lol. Not good.

Actually, check rakuten http://www.rakuten.co.jp/ . You can see that it is in the recommended shopping sites by tenso but the tenso site forwards you the the global rakuten site http://global.rakuten.com/en/ and its search is kinda messes up but if you go to the jp rakuten site and find and view an item, then the global version of the site will have those products in the recently viewd items. For instance http://global.rakuten.com/en/store/e-earphone/item/4975769408038/?s-id=borderless_browsehist_02_en which is roughly $205 for the FXZ200. There is a lot more stuff on rakuten than on amazon Japan and the sellers on amazon jp will have their items listed there too. According to my friend in Japan it is way more popular than amazon and you should be able to use the tenso forwarding service with rakuten the same way.

That is true, rakuten and Tenso have some type of agreement. I'm always getting offers from Tenso that if I buy from Rakuten I get half off or free shipping. But if you live in the USA and buy from rakuten, you pretty much have to use a forwarding service like Tenso. I don't think there's really any way around it.

Well, it's not just if you live in US, it's the same wherever you are outside Japan. But there is some really tempting stuff on rakuten, especially the jvc headphones. I might see what I can get beside the s500 from there and use my friend, who is coming for the holidays from Japan, as a forwarding service LOL

Hello kiteki. Yes, I would say the open-air design, but also how it's tuned. The FXD70 is, however, excellent, and the most balanced sounding between the two.

Wow, thnx..the fxz200 is much more cheaper here than amazon jp. I was so tempted that i ordered for myself too, followed the address from tenso and the process was a breeze.

So I don't know what happened. I started browsing Amazon Japan and my mind started to drift.. I started looking at AT stuff. Why does the Japanese always get the cool stuff first.? Well most of the time. Anyway. I started putting stuff in my cart.

Wait a second I don't need to buy the AD900X and a CKS1000? But then it just happened. Looks like I will let you all know how the CKS1000 is and how the AD900X is. An open version of my beloved A900X? For crying out loud. Just look at this thing.. Sold! Eagerly awaiting shipment of my stuff from tenso.
