Dimitri42 just PM'ed me saying the treble is way to rolled off for him. At about 15Khz you can't hear the treble. Can you guys confirm this as I'm having a hard time finding this out? For me the treble is just fine and there's nothing I can do for him since I don't mod IEMs.

100 hours on mines already and the micro-detail is just crazy. The only issue is that bass tamed out alot. They no longer have that thunderous bass of the beginning. It's much more controled and it's a good thing, but I miss the bass, they sound lean compared to my other bass heavy headphones, which is making me think about letting them go for  someone else that is not a basshead.

The FXZ definitely does not need an amp, unless you're listening through a crappy smartphone or you're trying to justify the $200 you just dropped on an amp. My BB playbook drives it fine, and so do my clip+ and iphone

Have you tried it with an amp? If not, how do you know you're not missing something?

There are plenty of headphones that sound fine without an amp, but scale very well. Which means they don't require an amp, but sound even better with one.

That's what I'm getting at. They don't need one but benefit from one. If you haven't heard it with an amp, i dono if its fair to tell people they don't need one for sure. Ppl might get it hoping for ear rumbling bass but unamped, its more balanced sounding (still sounds good) . Add some power behind these and they rumble. Although thought the presentation was more 3d with an amp.

I personally don't like carrying portable amps with me so listen to my FXZ100 straight from my Nokia 920 and it sounds awesome! When I get home and I am using my computer with my lossless files, littledot dac, and my desktop amp it sounds awesome(r) wink_face.gif.  Does that mean I will start carrying around a portable amp? Nope because awesome is good enough for me ksc75smile.gif

Did you have a chance to listen to them out of your Fiio E10 before you sold it? If so, were there any improvements over your other sources?
