Just received my Schiit Bifrost,(BF from here on), DAC to run my iMac audio library through my Lyr/LCD 2s.
Had been DAC-ing with the JDS Labs happy little C421. No problems with that, gorgeous sound.
Checked to see that my iMac recognized the BF...there it was, in the output options list.
Even went with their PYST interconnects, just to keep things all Schiit, all the time.
The sound with the BF started out JUST fab, then an intermittent crackle, then the music turned into this SHRIEKING METAL sound for, perhaps 15 seconds, then it resolved back to the nice, clear, pure music. This repeated every 12 to 15 minutes, until I just had to switch it out, check the sound on the other DAC again.
No Problems on the other DAC.
Of course, I will contact Shiit.... but I wonder if there's something I need to do before I foolishly contact them about something that I can rectify myself. I think a lot of us Head-Fi-ers are geared to try and sort things on our own before we run scampering to the manufacturer.
Any Mac-y people out there who can give me a pointer of two?
Any other BF-ers who have had a similar experience?
Will I have to ship this back?
It's very pretty, sitting under my Lyr.
Hate to have to ship this, mess up my decor.........
