Funny, that description kind of fits my old AD2000's as well, but with a definite lack of bass quantity.

I have my eye on the AD2000x, if I can sell my older AD2000's then the updated version will be next.

Love those headphones, but always found them to be on the bass light side of things, but with great sound stage and detail, hoping that the 2000x handle the bass end with more quality bass.

Would be very curious to know how the higher end models compare to the AD900X's.  I hope you will take one for the team here.  biggrin.gif

Well, like I said, if my old AD2000's sell...

I would like to know this as well. I am returning a pair of K702 Anniversary today. I do not like AkGs sound at all. It is the second AKG I have had and didn't like.

It will be great when these release stateside/euro so that people can start reviewing each model more easily.

I have the HE400 now and I really love the sound of it. Damn is it heavy. I don't think there is a ADXXXx model that compares to the HE400. Is there?

Also I would love to capture that HD598 soundstage with more low end. Is that possible with these? The HD598 were the first headphone to give me that speaker feeling.

I am most interested in the AD900x and AD1000x. The 2000x is a tad to expensive for me.

My favourite headphone to date is the DT990pro. But I wanted more mids, hence the AKGs.

Sorry I have a million questions and the post is a rambling mess I just woke up coffee isn't in me.

I am debating between ATs and Ultrasone(Lack of mids, I know.) at this point.

Indirect comparison for me K702 / K702 ANV VS AD2000 , and AD2000 VS AD2000X .

For me AD2000X is the winner .

are there any graphs for these yet?

It looks like the AD900X is being released to the US. It's on Amazon right now for $299 from presumably an American company.

The AD900X is only 16,107 yen = $175 on Amazon.co.jp. Shipping and handling from Tenso forwarding service only costs about $32 to the US, coming out to a grand total of roughly $202, lower than Ebay, Amazon.US, and Audiocubes. Very reliable combination and an absolute steal.

When did you order yours? I just checked my credit card and was only charged $32.90 on Jan 11. Maybe it went up/down? :/

Saw that Amazon JP charged me $215 for the headphones, though. I think I also paid for 2-day shipping, though, so I'm pretty certain the cans still come out to under $200.

This is silly. If they aren't out of stock everywhere in Japan, then they have enough to send a crate over to the US, even if they only sold them from the Audio Technica US website.

I think that when they are released in the US, they will be more expensive than a simple conversion from Japanese money to USD.

The only thing I'm concerned about (potentially) is warranty and the like... Seems like it'd be pricey to ship it back to Japan for that if required? But I assume you're right - it'll be $300 for a few weeks at least (while they clear out AD900 stock) before maybe dropping down to ~$250 or so, I figure. Dern this waiting.
