DrS, what amp are you pairing with/headphone are you pairing with?

I've been using my DD LE 12V with the TUR-06 quite a bit recently.

I sold my DDS1 to another Head-Fi'er whom needs it more than I do, so I don't have it anymore.  Right now I am using my SDT+AK120+Momentum, VERZA+iPod Touch+M-100, and AQDF+M-100 for PC gaming.  I have a MM5 case and a M8 LX coming and will either get the Alpha Dog XLR or the HD800 for it when I get it in Nov, so I will switch it around then.  I am not using my IEMs too much lately which is kind of sad.

Thanks DrS. It will be great bang for buck if it does other devices as well, I guess Venturecraft have all in one devices as well, but I dont know the all in one DAC performance would match the dedicated performance of DD S1. Im still very glad of DD performance even though it is only 9V opposed to LE 12V, and I enjoy the sound of 627 opamp it came with. It pairs very well with FiiO E11 as mentioned earlier but having so impressed with DD build quality and performance I wish they have a dedicated amplifier which matches well with DD as mentioned earlier by audionewbi.

I think either the Headstage Arrow or the Pico Slim will me a decent combo with the DDS1, but since I have neither I can't be sure.

To me, in the end the external amp (in your case the Rx II) would be the play a bigger part in the final sound...the pre-amp OpAmp merely "influences" the signature. Note that mtthefirst tested by listening straight out of line-out above. I'm not certain what he did for volume control in that scenario.
Hi, as the resident expert, tell me, how bad is the basic OP275? I'd like to know because I can get a second hand one at about $150. I have decent amps - ALO National and Continental - to pair it with. Thanks.

Personally I found the OP275 somewhat "slow". If I listened only to jazz/classical, romantic by-the-fireplace George Benson-styled songs, it'll probably be fine but I do have somewhat other "going through a midlife crisis" 20 again genre & the OP275 isn't so exciting.

However if you did get for that price, it's easy to buy more exciting OpAmps & swap yourself.

When the DD came out I made the wrong assumption the pre-amp OpAmp had little effect to the larger amp but the pre-amp does seem to make a noticeable difference.

Thanks for the prompt response.

DrS saw the review, good use of gorilla grip. I can see you have Versa, can you tell me how it compares to DD Socket 1 + amp ?

Much more powerful, but you can't change the opamp.  VC has some DDS1 on sale for $150 with some minor surface dings, which is a much better deal than the VERZA at the moment.

$150 it should be unbelievable deal since I feel the sound is terrific, most likely to beat or match clas -db
Planning to grab Versa/SDT/TT in some deals (or wait till amazon December sales), since it eliminates carrying extra amp and also the reason I'm so impressed with DDS1.
Hope they make attachment case for iPod classic or take custom requests, like they did for iPhone 5, after DDS1 suddenly Classic is my favourite dap/brick.

The USD150 one is the basic OP275 version. Is this worth investing in at that price?

Yes, but if you want something else, you can still get the $288 bundle with the OPA627 opamp.

I couldn't find that one. I could find the muse02 one at that price.

Yeah... the one I got (and sold) has the OP627, but I guess the Muses02 is good too.
