Cleaning IEM Sockets

Hi Guys,

 

lately i discovered that my cable has oxidized(green) although it is black... i saw a hint of green on the tubing for the memory wire... then it got me thinking i have never clean the sockets of the IEM...

 

 

 

 

after trying to clean it with a thumb tack(I improvised), scraping the internals of the sockets and wiping the thumbtack on a piece of tissue. when i wipe the thumbtack the tissues had green spots...

 

 

 

So i decided to scrape all 4 sockets even the cable pins...

so i'm just wondering do you guys clean it? if you guys do clean is there a better way to do it? because using a thumbtack is not cleaning it fully.

 

PS: my phone can't handle macro shots...

I should start cleaning my CIEMs now... Haven't cleaned them sockets ever since I got them 4 years ago LOL

hahaha... careful with the sockets and pins... if you find a better way to clean the insides of the sockets pls share with me...

 

as far as i can see a clean contact point is a better connection...
