What's the point of getting this iem if it is open? Wouldn't that render it completely useless for on the go purposes?

Not if you want to listen to your music but also hear the car or bike coming up behind you so you know to move to the side to avoid getting run over. It's one of the reasons I used crappy earbuds rather than good IEMs when I go out running.  The old SR-001 were less than ideal for use on the go... they are a bit to thick to go into most people's ears and stay there if there was much movement at all. It has been reported that the SR-002 are a bit thinner, so maybe they would work... will be interested to see what people's experiences are like.  Personally, I used the SR-001 as a transportable system, rather than something I used when I was active.

is there anyway one could make a converter for S-002 so that it can be used with regular Stax amps also?
