Those AA's are in series in there right?  I'm already looking for a pack I think might fit in there.  Think there would be any issues with the heat form charging in there?

lithium batteries shouldnt heat up while charging.  however, you probably wouldnt be able to charge it from the DC Jack (even with an external lithium charger without modifying the circuit board

Do you have a source for which you can buy replaceable cables for these, (either the proprietary portable amp cable or the pro-bias SR-003 one) ?

LOL, yeh the thing is, where does one buy replacement cable's from? Now that is the question...

Stax's idea on self-replaceable parts is pretty awesome but getting those parts (except the new in production line stuff) is PITA.

My friend buy the replacement cable fir his sr 002 from Stax distributor in Indonesia .
I think you can buy from your Stax distributor too in your country .

Well, ordered one through Headamp today. Lets hope Japan doesn't take too long shipping them to this side of the Pacific.

Next is for Justin to make a nice case for them, a la Pico, with a rechargeable battery circuit. biggrin.gif

We could make a far better portable amp but the power supply is the problem or rather getting parts good enough for it.  Well that and it wouldn't be cheap...

A portable DIY stax amp? That would be a lot of fun!

Great, now you guys have me thinking I should order from Justin, get custom work done by Starkey, and then work on a better portable amp.

Would be cool if we could organize a group-buy or something along those lines for custom tips on these....

They kinda just hang off my ear at least (during demo, didn't buy one in the end).

Definitely can be used portably with the SRM-002. But yes open-aired - wouldn't recommend using it on the streets nor cafe unless you crank the vol up...in which case everyone else around can hear your music.

So last week when I was talking about custom tips for these new Stax, I was thinking along the lines of this :-

Personally, if FitEar can do something like this, I don't see why other CIEM makers can't.

Errr...open, spacious, reasonably detailed if in a quiet environment, quite mid-thick, genre specific?

How do the new tips fit?

Can they be used on SR-001 or SR-003 Mk1?
