The world of computing started when people knew what they needed to do, and how to use the computer to do it. It became personal when you could define your own problems and solve them on your own rather that relying on a mainframe to do it for you.
Now its the other way round. Sell a PC first, by making it easier to use until your brain cells start to die of lethargy. Then provide the user with more brain dead options of what to do with the PC.
