I'm sorry, I've not A-B'ed it with the D7K, though would like to chance. The TH600 went back to Fostex. Borrowing it again isn't on my agenda but if it came to it, I'd do it.

Getting a D7K in Tokyo is hard. When I was reviewing the TH600, I couldn't find a any D7Ks to borrow to compare. Sometimes Tokyo moves on to current/new products "too fast" that former models are hard to find.

Noted, Sean. Sometimes, it is great, though. Example: you can pick up a Nikon 1 V1/lens combo for 265$ USD or so. A year ago that combo would have been 1000$ USD.

Yea, I saw that picture yesterday and the white part is part of the driver.

The th900 has a cotton batting between the driver and the housing.   The d7k just went from driver to mahogany housing.

I'm sorry, you meant between the driver and the housing. My picture wasn't helpful then. Apologies.

No, I meant your picture at the time.  It was helpful.  Thank you.

Trying to decide whether to get these (TH600) or the TH900s...I listen to EDM mostly with some rock and funk etc. I wonder if the TH600 would fulfill my needs or should I just go all out and get the TH900s,

TH900 my friend. Most likely the best headphone for EDM on the planet. I think the TH600 would shortchange you.

+1. If you do get the TH600 instead of the TH900, thoughts will creep into your head of how much better is the TH900. Of course, this is your wallet's recurring nightmare too.

Someone needs to do an experiment, just swapping the TH900 wooden cups onto the TH600 chassis/drivers, and seeing if the TH600 turns into a TH900 (by both listening tests and measurements).

Interesting, but the driver for TH600 is about 1 Tesla magnetic flux whilst the TH900, 1.5 Tesla.

Wouldn't it be easier to identify and compare the part numbers for the drivers, baffle and assembly?
