If the sound quality is same as TH900 and just around $1k or under then I am in. ksc75smile.gif

Thank you for the read and review, i hadn't seen that one.  Love the TH900s but really didn't think much of the D5000 when i heard them long ago.  Maybe my tastes have changed or i wasn't remembering clearly.  The new Denons i heard, i the D7100 are horrible and was referring to those mainly due to recent listen.

From what I understand, the Denon D7100 and the other new Denon models aren't related to the Dx00 series and the Dx00 series were designed by Foster/Fostex for Denon.

Well here is the quote i commented to originally, D**** could be seen as D7100 so that is what i was commenting toward.  Sorry if you read something else into it but that was my most recent D**** listen at a meet in August and the only D**** to compare the Fostex to.

Foster still makes the drivers for the new Denon AH-D7100, judging by the look of it. I'm pretty sure Foster makes the drivers for more headphones than we think.

I wouldn't complain about the price. That thing always goes up, and the value of the money goes down. TH900 is "premium reference", and overkill for most of us who came here interested, TH600 will be "reference".

Denons AH-D2-5-7000 are old, Fostex enhanced their driver and manufacturing processes a lot in the years of thinking and developing their flagship. They went from "microfiber" (artificial?) in the Denons to plant derived (natural) cellulose in the terminology that describes their newer diaphragm, I don't know how much of a real difference it makes... but anyway, now is my chance to get most of the better Fostex minus the unnecessary materials that make you look wealthy (urushi lacquer, silver, platinum). I still don't have money though, haha.

Hmmm...I think that verdict is still open. Talking to some members of the industry here in Tokyo, I was told that it's no longer a Japanese design.

Back on the TH-600, some info I found out recently. The black cups are magnesium, the neodymium magnets are weaker than the TH-900s (now 1 vs 1.5), & the cable purity is slightly less than the TH-900's. As such the tentative RRP will be slightly above 1/2 of the TH-900 and the planned released early next year (or late this year at the earliest). I couldn't do fair judgement on the SQ since it was in noisy floor of a trade show. I'll see if I can get a 2nd listen today.

That would be amazing as I will never own the TH-900s for many many years and by then fostex will probably have something way better out... maybe ^_^

A comparison would be great if you get the chance.

My sincere apologies, I personally feel it'll be unfair to post up an impression of an unfinished product as the SQ is yet be further fine-tuned and finalised.

Understood and there's no need to apologize. smily_headphones1.gif
