Lawton TH600 Mod Imprssions

Mod Level 2

Woodcups: East Indian Rosewood

Bass: Tight, focused and articulate

Mids: Flatter

Highs: Less metallic with more detail

Soundstage: remarkable the TH600's now perform like speakers with a 3D image. Instrument separation is superb.

The Lawton Mod TH600 are true "earspeakers"

How long have you had them for?

I just reached out to Lawton, asking about availability for the TH-600, and prices.  Its safe to assume you consider it money well spent?

Thank you, absolutely best Mod ever at first I was skeptical but I used to own Stax Lambda (earspeakers) while they are good they are not in the same league!

Gorgeous. Absolutely worth doing on the 600. I imagine the damping and angle pads put a big smile on your face.

Thanks for the comments, I had Moon Audio Silver Dragon with Neutrik balance plug prior to Lawton Mod and of course they sound better with the Mod.

Then you ARE done. Nice job.

I've been communicating with Mark Lawton, in regards to having done what hifimiami also had done.  Mark sent me some photos, so I thought I'd share them here:

He says he has over 20 species he works with, and I'm in sensory overload deciding on a species....

I want world-class bass but also a rather neutral (not analytical/cold) and musical sound signature. Do you think TH600s are just that?

Nope.

Maybe the TH900 though.

Funny, but there is a certain range of bass that seems to kick me in the ear drum.  Not sure if its upper bass or mid bass, but I feel it when listening to some pop songs...

Interesting. Most comments I've seen about TH600 mentioned fun, U shaped (but relatively neutral) sound signature with great bass.Sadly TH900 is x2 the price. I was hoping for TH600 to be the ultimate all-rounder headphones... Sigh...

Pop songs? More likely midbass.

The older Denons have more subbass amplitude (relative to the midbass).

Not really neutral -- there's too much of a dip in the midrange.

All-rounder is subjective, but the TH600 is hardly ultimate in any respect.
