Fostex TH600 Dynamic Headphones - Page 15

Japanese RRP is apparently ~900 USD. So depends where you get them/what people will sell them for with import duties and whatnot.

...If so, I hope the TH300 will get released in the future to fill in the lower gap.

It'll be around 80,000 JYN so close to $800. Not bad but yah a cheaper revision of the D2k's would be lovely

I like the look of these way more than the the Fostex TH-900, also the magnesium cups would make me worry a lot less than wooden cups in terms of wear and tear.

The lacquer finish on the TH900 is actually incredibly durable. I've accidentally dropped the plug onto them from a distance of several feet, and there was nary a ding. On the other hand, there are photos of the pre-production TH600 that show the finish scratching pretty noticeably in several places. I hope the production TH600 is a lot more durable than that.

To be fair, those demo units went around the world throughout their life and were roughed up a lot I bet. It's likely the production units have a better finish anyway.

80K JYN seems quite good to me since that works out at £550. hat's cheaper than second hand D7Ks in the UK. Still, I'd loved to get wood cups, the all black is a little plain. Call me vain or whatever, but if I've just bought £550 headphones, I want them to look the part(as well as sound the part).

True, it may be plain but I love the look of the magnesium cups, they have an understated beauty that I prefer to the flashiness of the TH900.

A chrome accent like the A900X would've been nice. Just a hint of glamour.

I'd have liked it better if they'd stayed with the prototype design and kept the cups clean of any logo...

I think it was meant to be more simple than stealth.

Personally I kinda like this textured finish. It kinda gives it more character than a plain smooth black. Anyhow, each to their own and I respect that.

It COULD BE the same driver with less powerful magnets (I hope it is).

It makes me wonder how difficult is to release 2000USD flagship (TH900), and then try to develop a pair of headphones for 1/2 of its price that will be good enough to justify its price but not too much good to negatively influence their flagship's status (and sales, of course) among audiophiles.

Same as in the case with D5000 and D7000?
