Fostex TH600 Dynamic Headphones - Page 114

Eh wait!! He said he was gonna do gaming with them? I must've missed that post.
Yeah, definitely overkill if it's mostly for gaming. Something like a D2000 plus DAC with built-in headamp (like a NAD Dseries) would be more than sufficient.

I hope I'm not intruding here, but I got the 80/20 thing from this thread:

Yeah they will. Be used for gaming a lot. However I do believe I will use those for music as well don't get me wrong maybe that was a little to swayed towards gaming but that was to prove a point of main use. It would probably only be about 3 hours a day total with 2 to gaming and one to music.

I understand that is quite a hefty price to put on gaming headphones however by all means I am a believer do it right the first time. I am the guy that would always question the purchase of the 600 and ask myself what off I got the th900 so to avoid that alone it's worth it or is it is the question I am having. I am really leaning towards the th900 and just canceling the 600s and haven't even received them yet lol.

I am just getting into this and am by no means educated enough to pick apart sound elements most mentioned on this forum. I do however believe in time I will learn and would like to have a great learning tool. And besides I look at these as an investment.redface.gif

lol at bs for gaming... I use my rig to watch anime more than listen music :P

I think TH600/900 are quite ideal for general usage, as they are comfortable and closed.

MarkL used this stuff in his first version of Lawton mod, but then advised against it. Interesting than Fostex picked that up as a way to dampen TH900.

I am really surprised that no one tried it yet, that can really close the gap between TH900 and TH600.

Guess, I am gonna be the first guinea pig.

Even if they're closed, they still leak. I'm sure your mum/partner knows when you're watching tentacle-porn. =P

i dont think the th-600 would be overkill for gaming, especially if you play something with a good soundtrack it'd be well worth it.

also nice headphones will probably have you listening to music more than you expect. i know i relistened to a ton of tracks when i got my current setup.

I would suppose display leaks more effectively than headphones.. but no worry, no one else in my room. Not a fan of tentacles or just H-anime as a whole anyway :P (watched a few but stories were all so weak or just none on them, do interested in Galgame though)

I think they leak sound in more than leak out, I couldn't hear anything when I place my ears near to the back of the ear-cups. Or perhaps my listening volumn is low, even with HD800 I hear very little to even nothing when I took them off.

I thought they would be great as well for gaming. And yes I am sure more music listening will follow. I finally deciding on the th600 for now and th900 later. I am looking hard at the wa7 however might have to buy something for 500 till I save up more maybe an ifi ican?

Any recommendations for amp dac combo for under 500?

I just fell in love with the reviews of the th600 and 900s.it appeared they were more my style. I am by no means looking for a neutral phone nor will I sit and pick apart the instruments and so forth. I love bass and these appear to have solid quality and quantity wise. And the look of all black with a blacked out wa7 wouldn't take much convincing of table space towards wife look wise. As far as the gaming is concerned I have a feeling it will stray more towards music in time.
