Audeze closed-back prototypes! Yeah, this is one of the headphones at the top of my wish list. - Page 26

TH-900 is not really a closed can. Yes it's technically closed but it leaks like semi-open can and cannot be used a truly isolating closed back. Audeze needs to make these the most efficient planar ever to date because many people will get them to drive off portable systems on the go. I'll be happy if they sound as good as the LCD-2 (current version). Anything more would just be a bonus and I'll be pissed if these are like $2000.

When I have these around my neck I'm going to stop a random kid with Beats Studios around his neck and ask him if he wants to try out my cans and watch as his mind is blown. LOL

They will be the biggest portable cans you'd ever wear around your neck.  Hipster to the exponential power.

Actually they are closed. smily_headphones1.gif

They get my wife's approval for leakage and that says a lot. wink.gif they leak less than the Ed8 and W3000s.

Can't speak for LCD3 but LCD2 already sounds closed.  wink.gif

I'm guessing they will have subass like the th900 but with the smoothness of the LCD-3 with soundstage about the same and be lighter than LCD-3.

Here's some conjecture - user replaceable wooden earcups to customize the tuning.

If they can pull this off that will be a win IMO..  With a good FR to match that measures better than the Ab^%^#$biggrin.gif

They will get the double whammy then. First the good, the sound. Then the bad, the price. For the vast majority of kids, value still sides with cost vs quality.

Andre Young deserves credit for seeing a commercial opportunity and exploiting it. If it has woken up some of the established names in the headphone industry that is only a good thing. Let's face it though, Fostex and Audeze are not competing in the same market with their top line offerings so the self-justification is misplaced.

If a rep hints at holiday 2013 then I predict Winter 2014 for release of these babies wink.gif

+1 - That would be amazing. Hope you're listening Audeze, make it happen.

I still want them to shrink the size down by half and make a friggin' portable already!

I sorta hope they don't. Audeze are supposed to be pro audiophile headphones, not Beats.
