Quality problems for early LCD-3s, probably problems with mounting and/or tension of the diaphragms. My right driver went silent after seven months of enjoyment. Before it went silent it was sensitive to air pressure, too much pressure on the diaphragm and it went dead. Probably a broken circuit. They have fixed their QC issues now. And my fixed LCD-3 has a litle bit more treble energy...

 

Edit: Oh, sorry, forgot, due to the mounting/tension problems some early LCD-3s where "veiled", others not. I compared two LCD-3s myself, one veiled and one not veiled, that I bought and that later broke. A lot of people where worried that they had a veiled LCD-3, and Audez'e agreed to fix them, hence all RMA'd LCD-3s.

I finally had a chance to demo the LCD3 at a meet in June and i wasn't really impressed, I felt it was very lacking in bass for my taste. For 2k I gotta say it sounded very hollow to me.

 

I demoed with an Eddie Current balancing act and a W4S Dac2. Personally I like the HE-6 with the EF-6 amp way better. Maybe I would like the LCD3 better with a good solid state amp like the EF6?

 

I do have high hope for the new closed design though!

I assume that you have heard the LCD2's? How was the bass on those for you.

I loved em.  They could use more bottom, or perhaps just better, faster, more fluid transient attack in the lower octaves - 

but if I didn't own LCD3's I'd be waiting for these like an audible junky...

hmmmmm

I honestly didn't demo the LCD2's people with super high end rigs had the 3's if they had any Audeze gear.

You didn't think the LCD-3s had enough bass for your tastes and yet you liked the HE-6s? Sorry, doesn't compute with me. The HE-6s have less bass (slam, impact, depth and quality) when compared to the LCD-3s.

I find the depth and quality part unequaled in the HE6, but to refresh my memory how were you amping it?

I still haven't heard an LCD3 and I am not trying to start a debate, but the HE6 takes a lot of juice to sound right.

I haven't got a chance to listen tot he LCD-3s really good yet.  Do they have to "SAME" bass response as the LCD-2.2s?
