So I'm deciding to buy the fiio e6 amp for my M50's. The main reason I'm getting this is because the jack for my M50 doesn't fit my phone when it has a case on it. Given that (from what i read) amps enhance your experience when listening to music I don't think its a bad idea. Is the e6 generally good? How much does it enhance the experience/how does it? does it make instruments sound better or what? excuse my ignorance on this subject.

Heya,
Depending on the output ability of your phone, the E6 could give you a little extra room in your listening experience. Since it's only $20, it's not like it's going to put you out to try it. I will say that the M50 is an efficient headphone and does not need an amplifier. At all. However, phones are funny in that some have nice output for devices, and some are really dismal. So in this case, I don't think it can hurt to put your headphone on something else from the phone. The only real thing you will notice is that volume will be higher, easier, for less effort. You're not going to hear better anything, the instruments are not going to be suddenly more realistic and a sound stage is not going to widen or get magical in any way. The volume is the only thing that is going to change in this case. That said, you are getting more than just an amp with the E6, you are getting a hardware EQ. If you like bass, you can switch up the bass switch and go boom boom with your headphone without distortion which is fun.
Very best,
- Fiio e6
