Favrite price promotion for Hisound’s upcoming new Nova player - Page 22

Hello all, first post on Head-Fi to join this discussion.  I received my N1 and Wooduo2 today (Australia).  Thank you Hisound.

My review will come later, but for now, the build quality looks excellent and durable, with a pleasing heft.  The included PAA-1 earbuds are quite nice, bassy and the most ear-filling/isolating earbuds I have experienced.  The Wooduos look lovely with red ribbon cables to match the rosewood, lots of tips included, a rubber fish-shaped cable winder and nice small zip case.   I had a small test listen on my phone and they are bassy but not overly so.  Very smooth and detailed to my ears (my experience is really only Sansa Clip and Fuze, with RE0s and R02pro2s).  Glad I got them already, and I might not bother now to fix my other IEMs which are both broken.

A few questions I would be grateful if any of you help with:

Is it a normal MicroSD card I should be getting?  (I see reference to TF card above...?)  Does anyone know the maximum card size?  Does class number matter?

For firmware downloads it seems you have to join the Hisound forum, which is difficult for me even with Google translate.  Is there anyone who could post the firmware files here with short instructions in English of how to update?

I only have ZUNE HD in your list. the sound quality itself for each are not big difference. I would tell some difference points of sound. The sound stage ZUNE HD is a little wider than N1 if the source is live councert.

Bass resolution, ZUNE is higher than N1. Vocal, N1 locate the sound to the more center of my head inside. Classic music, the number of sound and bass ZUNE HD is better than N1. But all differences are small.

It is not big different. In this time I use N1 EQ HSA V1.0. Volume level, ZUNE 27 = N1 32(Max.) I compared mp3 source.

Hi cuttlefish, The current N1 does not have a resume function. When I turn off the power, I need to choice the previous music and it strat from 0sec point. Current my N1 firmware N1-V1.01 2013-01-07.

What about the build quality? Does it look to be durable? I at least noticed that across the board on hisound products, they tend to be on the sturdier side....

The price wise,I think the build quality is nice. The touch panel Colorfly C3,ZUNE is better than N1, I keep te protection sheet on the panel.

In my case N1 recognized 32GB class4 microSD card. I do not have larger, one sorry. For new firmwware and the instruction, you can ask Jack. He will help you. And he has translated instuction. The software related firm update, menu are in Chinese.

Thank you YOT.  I would like to try a 64G card but will ask Jack about this and the firmware (+ English instructions).  Jack if you are reading this could you please advise?  Thank you.
 

I've Google/Microsoft translated the firmware update directions and folder names,

No device in-hand yet (but tracking it frequently from Hong Kong to New Orleans)

Appreciate you doing this GGibby.  I can access the files but it's still a bit confusing, there's quite an array of files, and the English instructions seem to cut out after step 3?  If anyone can post the exact steps and files for and XP upgrade that would be good.  Obviously I can understand that no one wants to brick their new device in this quest, especially me :)

You mentioned trying out the C3 before? What about the C3s sound in comparison to the N1 and your Rocoo P? There was another headfier who owned both but he eluded to state which he preferred.

My N1 sound getting clearer after 10hours over playing. I have both C3 and RoCooP. If I compare the N1 with C3. C3 sound is more powerful, warm and natural. Sound stage mostly same I feel. C3 sound is good for long time use with HiFi sound. That is why I got it and still use it. I think I should not compare C3 with N1, compare with RoCoo series is reasonable.The better points of N1 for C3 are UI, size, cost-performance. The sound difference with two, it could be larger if user listen carefully and remind it. NOVA series is just new, I expect Hisound device evolution in near future.

Ok I think I got your point. So the C3 is more laid back and easier on the ears while the N1/Rocoo P are more detail oriented, more energetic and in that more fatiguing to listen to at higher volumes for longer periods of time?

Yeah I'm a bit curious on this as well. Initially he did say the Rocoo P is the clear winner still in terms of overall detail/clarity. But the N1 has improved with burn in....
