Are the SRH 840's good for these genres of music?

I listen to a lot of hiphop, rock, alt rock and pop. I had the M-50's but I sold them due to them being uncomfortable. I loved the amount of bass on them because it was not overpowering or too little. I hear the 840's lack bass... is this true and how is the bass in comparison to the M50's?

Like in your other thread, yes yes yes. The Shure SRH-840 is good for all types of music, including bass heavy music. Just tweak your source or get an amp with bass boost, it will be fine.

Also, if you're going to buy the 840 then save $25 and get the SRH-940 pads, they make the 840's feel heavenly and the pads fit like a glove.

X2 ^^ they're a better all-rounder than the M50s.

Of course man, they benefit from some extra oomph.

I run my 840's on the FiiO E11 on low gain setting with the middle bass boost selected. It sounds awesome and it's as bassy as I'd like without drowning out the mids. Like I said, I can't directly compare them to the M50, but I think they're slightly more bassy than my HD600's if that accounts for anything. But the HD600's bass sounds better, just not as present :).

I'm not a huge fan of the M50. I feel like it is over hyped. The bass, while plentiful, it doesn't work for everything.

The SRH840s have more than enough bass for most music, and are far better all rounders.
