Only time will tell whether or not the Unicorn will be included....let us know.

They are rather shiny. Beautiful finish.

We leave the door open so people can wander in & out as they wish. We don't even have a cover charge... tongue.gif

One of the most annoying "features" of modern search engines is their use of "fuzzy" searching. The default behavior for google is for "Verbatim" search to be off. This means that if you search for a specific set of search terms, google will look at your terms and give you results that include MORE than just pages that have your specific terms. It can include pages with terms that are "similar" to your terms (like including a page with the word "kitten" when you searched for "cat"), or terms that could be a common misspelling of your search term (like including a page with "vat" when you searched for "cat" - look at your keyboard and check the location of "c" and "v"), or pages that might have been previously included in searches with your search terms (like including a page with "pu$$y" when you searched for "cat").

rant mode on

I think all of the above is the work of the devil. I am very knowledgeable on boolean logic. I understand the use of NOT AND OR and parenthesis. If I want a search engine to search for (cat OR kitten) AND licking AND NOT (pu$$y OR shaved OR "rug munching") - then *THAT* is what I want the search engine to do! But NOOOOO - the great google believes it *knows* what I really want and what I tell it to do is completely irrelevant!

rant mode off

I use a plug-in for Chrome that forces "Verbatim" to be on in google searches. That helps a little, but it still doesn't give me the search result I could get if true boolean logic was allowed. And image searches are even worse - there is NO verbatim and image search won't even recognize a quoted phrase. With image search "cat licking" will return exactly the same results as cat OR licking - freaking useless!!

Hmm, Google knows me better than you it seems. I'd rather search for pu**y than cats, or cats rear ends, thank you.

Ah, that TwinQY. Every time I think I've figured out all his schemes, he comes up with a new one.

After hearing the Alpha Dogs at the recent Dallas meet, I can agree with all the hype. They are a wonderful, fantastic 'phone.

They're certainly a lovely-looking headphone, in a form-follows-function sort of way. I'd definitely be proud to display them. I wouldn't mind a different color, though--maybe a nice turquoise or deep, midnight blue.

Thanks TwinQY, I hope everyone else is cool with me chilling on here

Oh, I've been here from time to time (two times..?) ;)

How are you doing? I'm finally crawling back up to life again. I've been away from work for a while, and it's been good for me and my health. I'll have a meeting with them next week about my future over there and I'm hoping they'll want me back (they said so in an email yesterday, but you never know with people, they can say one thing in an email and another in real life), but more on "my terms" so to say, as in 50% for a week or two and then back to normal. I'm starting to feel ready to work instead of rot away in the couch, but babysteps is the key here. I've also gotten used to the new meds, and they're helping a whole lot. Other than that, new gadgets and wristwatches and bags and stuff - the family's doing fine and so..

Day 3 of Occult October is also a tribute to Eliphas Levi.

eliphas-levi.jpg

A former Roman Catholic seminarian, he decided that he liked women more than the priesthood (who wouldn't?) and devoted his life to studying ancient religions and is commonly referred to as "the father of Western occultism". A true renaissance man, he challenged the teachings of the Catholic church regularly, which meant he was often running for his life, at one time there was a contract offering $250,000 in gold (in today's money) for him, dead or alive. He was almost captured in Istanbul, but the three men who were after him all died of heart attacks, on the same night, at the same time. Witnesses claim they heard panicked screaming during the night from the room they were all sharing... True? Who knows? But what is known is that soon after that, the "warrant" for Levi's capture was rescinded (presumably by the Vatican), with no comment regarding why. Hmm...

Jolly looking fella:
