The pineapple and cat fetishism on this thread is unparalleled. I think the title should be changed to reflect this.
Or at least to warn everybody to stay away....
Agreed. I put Hollywood last in my film rotation long ago. If I'm fortunate enough to see three films a month, I'll usually do Laemmle and Nuart theaters first, then visit mainstream theaters/films to round out the month.
I've seen that! Did you watch closely during the "stop" scenes to see who moved? I'll be some of those poses were tiring to hold.
Since it's been at least a day since somebody posted a totally random, completely topic-changing, here's something to rectify that.
I just received a recording I ordered of the complete Vivaldi L'Estro Armonico, op.3. It's a set of 12 concertos for various numbers of violins and string ensemble. I started listening at the beginning and got out the liner notes to read what they'd written about the collection. When I put the little booklet back in the jewel case I noticed the copyright date: 1963*.
I did a double take. This is one of the most nicely produced recordings I've heard in a while. Clear, detailed, well-separated, good presence, minimal tape hiss, and not a trace of the harshness and midrange wonkiness I sometimes hear in recordings from that period. I'm astounded that they could make something that sounded this good in the 60s.
Choose any of the demos from the album page on the Decca catalogue site and tell me what you think. I recommend op. 3/11, which is one of my all-time favorites.
*The collection was re-released on CD in 1995
Apologies. Crashed at 4am, woke up at 3pm, crashed again at 5pm, and now I'm back up. Took the last 2 days off and hadn't slept for a single minute yesterday or the day before. I'm just going to curl up tomorrow and watch dramas or something.
...which means I'll be a bit late on the Compilation. I'll try and get it in by tonight. But right now I need to go catch up on news and eat.
I just realized that there are two birds on this forum. The Currawong and the Sparrow.
Good thing we have these cats to keep them in check.
You guys should REALLY watch what you're saying for the rest of today.
I can make things happen. Scary things.
It's 60% better, with a 40% chance of changing in the next 20 days.
Where did I pull out those numbers? Well right from the cat's...
I don't like that I'd have to crank it. Can't it be automatic?
Well Giovanni can just use the time glitch on his watch.
