So, speaking of superheros....

Quote:

Ben Affleck has been cast as Batman in Warner Bros. upcoming sequel to "Man of Steel." The film, from director Zack Snyder, will arrive in theaters on July 17, 2015.

“We knew we needed an extraordinary actor to take on one of DC Comics' most enduringly popular Super Heroes (sic), and Ben Affleck certainly fits that bill, and then some," Greg Silverman, president of creative development and worldwide production for Warner Bros., said in a statement posted to the Warner Bros. Facebook page. "His outstanding career is a testament to his talent and we know he and Zack will bring new dimension to the duality of this character."

I find each of those gifs more interesting than the entire Superman universe. Or Ben Affleck, for that matter.

I'll have to. Quick think of something exceedingly witty!

I'm on my last leg. The final push. 80 more pages to go. Let's make this good and smorgsasbord the heck out this thread with Pesci-level material.

Just type in twinsta or twinky or twinks (actually not this one) or twinkie winks or twonqy or wifey or wiffles or harry potter or tiffany or teletubbies or pineapple lover or twerkie. There are no shortages to the possible amount of nicknames one can come up with. In fact I dare you to. I double dare you.

Okay, Twinkster. Will do.

Good point. All of them, I suppose. Superman just never interested me much, though he is certainly featured an awful lot in this repository of really bad comic covers, so at least he had the consistent capacity to be poorly drawn, given nonsensical dialog, and/or be placed in illogical situations. And yes, I know the cover on the linked page isn't a Superman one--page through and you'll see plenty of Supes. Plenty of Batz, too, since that's technically more relevant to Affleck's new role.

The cement businessman, of course. Though I don't really care about the actor, either.

Mmm, not that one. I don't like that one. Something else.

What would you do if you a million dollars? Well, if you were a being with super powers who could fly, apparently you’d start to travel by car. After you'd blinded yourself, and your driver.

This sounds awful, but I never took to western comics outside of a purely cultural interest. I had Joe (not Pesci, the other boxer). And Astro Boy. That was the extent of it.

I know at one point he could move stars and schiit. I found delight in that. I like to see just how far, and just how they can develop those powers. In the end I'm but a mere observer...no foot in the race.

I'm adding this to the Compilation.

Baldy has a point: word gets out that the Bat is on the injured list, you don’t assume he’ll come after you in a one-man copter. A large, multiperson Batcopter, yes. That’s a reasonable expectation, and you make preparations. But a one-man copter? You can’t blame a guy for not seeing that one. I mean, imagine the strategy session.

Okay, boys, this is the week we knock over the barn.

Uh boss? Why a barn again?

Because that’s where the blue bag is, you idiot. Remember: everyone wear suits, so we’ll stand out in a rural setting. Then we’ll meet up right under the big metal grain chute.

What about the Batman, boss?

Oh fer cripes sake. He’s injured.

But what if he shows up in a one-man copter?

Look. He went in the hospital two days about. You think he has time to built a one-man ‘copter? And customize it with those stupid bat-details he always puts on? Anyway, it doesn’t matter if he shows up in a one-man copter. We’re meeting under the chute, right? Well, I measured the string that activates the chute. There’s no way a guy could grab the string if he’s on a one-man copter, because the blades would slice right into the side of the barn.

What if he tilts the one-man copter at an angle?

Well, that would require a rear stabilizing rotor. Listen, I’ve seen some prototypes of his copter in Underworld Gazette, and –

What? He does have a copter!

Shaddup! I said a prototype. It didn’t have a rear rotor. There’s no way he could fly over and grab the string and dump the grain on us. Don’t worry! This is going to go off perfect.

What about Robin?

Hahhahah! That’s a good one.

I've read most of that site many, many times. It never gets old. Especially the Gallery of Regrettable Food. I remember there's even some pineapple in there somewhere (one of the rice dishes, I think), so be sure to check that section out.

Anyway, that particular exchange you quoted was always one of my favorites.

Just a heads up, though: Lileks is really bad at managing his navigation links. If clicking next sends you back to the main menu, always go back and manually increment the page number in the URL by one to see if there's more pages. More than half the time there are. This applies to everything on his site.

It didn't even redirect me to the menu, it just didn't give any feedback at all when I clicked it. The URL was the first thing that came to mind. Great cats think alike...

...And I'm adding the cat thing to the Compilation.

What if Tiffany's behind were affixed to that board, clad with a pineapple-patterned bikini bottom, and bedecked with a tattoo of a tabby cat on a part not covered by the bikini?
THAT'S GOING ON THE NEXT COMPILATION.
*clap clap*
TwinQY make it happen.
