The "secret menu" at In 'n Out is the worst kept secret on the 'net. There are dozens & dozens of special orders you can make that go way beyond just adding extra patties. One day, I saw a guy order a root beer float - it was just a half a cup of root beer with some soft ice cream from the shake machine on top - but it was actually in the point-of-sale system as a menu item. For those of you that are puzzled why this is such a big deal, you have to understand that the In 'n Out menu is incredibly simple - the entire menu consists of: Double Burger, Single Burger w/Cheese, Single Burger without Cheese. You can add fries (there is only 1 size), the usual soft drinks and a vanilla, chocolate or strawberry shake. That's it - that is the entire "official" menu. So, it's a huge goof that a large number of people order off the "secret menu" - animal style (on burgers or fries), protein style, mustard cooked, 3x3, 4x4, black & white shakes, cold cheese, grilled cheese, untoasted bun, "wish" burger (as in I "wish" this burger had meat in it), etc, etc. I think some people just try to see if they can think of an order that will stump the guy punching it into the computer - but most of those kids are really d@mn good at working those registers!
This is Car Culture - I like the intersection of "Simple Street & Elegant Way."
