Remember - it's not a successful convention unless you can get some other vendor to pay for every meal you eat...

Sorry guys, I don't have any drive at all to update the OP. I'll see what I can dredge from this lazy body of mine..... in a few days.

Heads up you guys, Adobe just made CS2 legal-free to download from their website: http://www.adobe.com/downloads/cs2_downloads/index.html

Don't know how long it'll last, so if you want to get it guilt-free, now's the time to do so. Also you need to register, but a few throwaway or backup, non-important email address away should be enough.

Will definitely have to check that out when I'm not on the school's Internet, lest they interpret this as "downloading illegal software" and give me grief. Gits. Normally I would SSH into my own server at home to use the Internet, but that requires Linux and I'm too lazy to boot into my Ubuntu partition at the moment.

I'm curious where the business sense is in this move, since I'm sure the tools available in CS2 would be more than enough for the average user. Is Adobe just trying to build positive mindshare, or by offering CS2 for free is it trying to stop the spread of free software equivalents? Since it won't run (officially) on anything beyond XP, maybe they're taking a calculated risk that people will install CS2 now, upgrade to Windows 8 at some point, find out CS2 no longer works, then upgrade to the current product from Adobe.

Whatever. I'm home now, so the download begins.

Awesome! Going to check it out right now.

EDIT: "Meelectronics is showing off some dual [dynamic] driver IEMs.  I didn't get a chance to see/hear them at all, but I wanted to snap a quick pic as I walked by."

Ah, so they went with dynamic instead of armature, but a dual driver IEM nonetheless. Now if they can just get over their penchant for relaxed treble (lower treble spikes notwithstanding), we'll be in business.

Perhaps in virtual machines it would?

It actually runs on Vista and 7 (from what I've read in various places), but it's finicky and drops out of Aero. Supposedly that's the only issue, which I'll get to find out when I get around to installing it (there's actually nothing apart from my netbook in the house that runs XP anymore).

But for now, it's been a long first day back at school, and I'm falling asleep at my computer so it might be time to call it a night.
