The DT880. I wouldn't even bother with the SRH440 with this recording. The main problem I have with it is that the production is extremely dull and kind of muddy in the low end. The performance is competent, but the sound puts a damper on the whole thing. The DT880 at least tries to give the performance some breath, and I guess earlier today I was in the right mood or something because it wasn't as uninspiring as usual.

Maybe you're generally more forgiving due to the holidays?  I've realized that I tend to suffer fools far more joyfully during this time of year.  biggrin.gif

I'm looking into that Gardiner recording now that you've mentioned it. I'd heard something a long time ago about him (must have been when I was in the high school choir), and looking at some reviews I can see what you're saying about the polarization. I almost don't want to hear it yet, at least until I've tried a good "safe" rendering, so as to better appreciate what he's done differently.

His main draw is that he tries to record known pieces with period instruments.  I think that - much of the time - people tend to forget that the instruments around during J.S. Bach's day aren't exactly the same as those we fill orchestras with today.  Either that or he's a Renaissance Faire type of guy.

Ooh, have not.  Ima have to track that down.

Among others... been hopelessly backlogged with life being what it has been lately (complicated).  I've got three RHA models, a pair of Grados, and a Numark model.  And that's not counting any of my own recent acquisitions.

BTW, I've got a present for y'all as well.  Recently converted a buddy of mine and created a new Head-Fier.  He was resistant at first, but now he's kinda hooked.  And he's a Beyer dude no less.  His name is weirdfishes... if you happen to see him around (usually in Beyer threads), feel free to say hello!

In order to maintain a sense of balance in the universe, he also digs K-Pop in a big way.

No, family doesn't celebrate it anymore etysmile.gif I was usually the one urging everyone into the Christmas spirit, but now as I'm older now, it sort of died down. We had a nice dinner and that's about all. And I don't really wanna go out to any X-Mas parties. Anti-social Ironman, yes yes..

+1 to all the Merry Christmases that have been said, and I'm happy that we've recruited yet another enthusiast. Perhaps he'll post here? Maybe we should all reach out and get him to join up with us.

Yeah, I know what that's like.  It's hard being the holiday cheerleader sometimes.  I've tried, but having to do it every year is... tiring.  But hey, with TMAC around, you'll never be lonely!  BTW, if you get really bored, maybe you can go and get this guy into the holiday spirit.

I hope so.  He keeps saying that he doesn't know anyone here on HF (except me that is).  Feel free to reach out to him, he won't bite.  smile.gif
