I'd rather not think about that day myself, but I was thinking how this thread makes me feel like, for once, I'm actually involved in one of the classic Head-Fi threads instead of just uncovering them after six years and getting to know the participants from their posts, only to realize that most of them don't post anymore. It's a really sad feeling when that happens, and I just thought it was pretty cool that I'm on the other side of that for once.

Sorry for the seriousness all of a sudden. Just posting random thoughts. In other news, my cat's snoring again. I prodded her awake once already and she took off in a huff, but it seems like she's come back again and gone to the exact same spot to snore some more. Stubborn kitteh.

I never heard of a cat snoring :what:

Yeah, you're probably right.  Hey, I wonder if there's a gradual shift in the median age for Head-Fi members over the past decade.  I would think that - with the proliferation of portable audio devices - the average Head-Fier is continually getting younger.

This.  Exactly.  It is a homage, an honorary thing.  How can that be bad right?

Thankfully, we're only on the fifth month, so we're not running out of ideas anytime soon.

It is.  For example, I've never had the opportunity to interact with krmathis.  And yet, by all accounts, he is entirely deserving of his status as a legend.

I have a deep appreciation of members who consistently enriched the experiences of others in this hobby of ours.  I appreciate all of the members here for what they have contributed over the years.  But those that pass their blessings forward to newer Head-Fiers will always hold a special regard in my mind.

No worries, even seriousness is allowed.  In fact, barring a violation of posting guidelines, I don't think there's anything that's off limits here at all.

I have absolutely no idea. I think Currawong made a rare error in forum character assessment when he assigned that title. biggrin.gif

I'm almost positive I remember someone suggesting it at one point.  From there it just kind of stuck.  It beats you-know-what-crack so it's a net positive there.

sounds delicious - and very metrosexual.... lol coming from me (with numerous cosmetic products and a hair straightener)

We have.  We can start our own cult almost - or not.

Too much maintenance and inbreeding - I already evaluated that.

LOL, one piece of "candy" from her, and you are destroyed.  She is your Kryptonite.

Red kryptonite....

Yup, but check it out, even you are totally chill here.  I think this thread serves as decompression for some of the time we spend in other threads, so it's always relaxed.  Posting in here is like taking a big bong hit.  Insta-mellow.

Loving the comparison. Buy black rubbish bags of the stuff at Sodwana. Not that I will, or one my friends won't.

That is insane!  I'm pretty addicted myself, but jeebus, 20+ cups???  eek.gif

Hence the side effects - now can only handle 3 a day, I couldn't handle any coffee for 3 months.

Yes, with waffles indeed.  smile.gif  Not entirely sure what that means, but I think I like the context so I'm going with it.

had no intelligent comment so just went with it.

BTW, if you ever want to have some fun.  Walk up to a random group of professionals and say this:

"Hey, I just heard from John that there are going to be budget cuts and some people have to be let go.  I'll try to find out more, but just a heads up."

Then scurry away before they can respond.  You'd be surprised how spooked people get... even though they don't know you (or which John you're referring to).

My friend went into an elevator and had his head tilted and said under his breath wit ha rough voice "I need a new host body", everybody got off on a useless floor.

And for God's sakes, make friends while you're there.  They will be there for you - as you will be there for them - for the rest of your lives.

Beer, broads, books, bikes, and BS. Summs up my varsity carreer.

Not really, but I always take a step back and ask myself, "Are you doing everything you need to be doing? Are you skipping homework? Not studying? Putting off a project?" (Okay, I did end up doing the last one, but it turned out okay in the end). And if the answer is "yes" to any of those, I will myself to start focusing. So far I've been doing everything I need to be, so it's no big deal.

Plus, as Warren has pointed out, this thread is pretty inviting.

My first 2 years, I did all of that, just passed - barely, and had many subjects to redo - beer and woman was just soo much better.

Last 2 years - work my ass off, catch up, teach myself, and it worked - Won a prize for innovation, and getting into Honours.

Well you are being true to your CT, that's for sure. I kid I kid.

We should try the Twitter limit in here for one day. 140 characters per post. Warren, WiR3D, and I in particular would have trouble with that, what with our respective epic multi-quoting and long-winded ways.

Well while you guys were busy posting away as usual last night, I was studying for my final exam. Last exam in 1 and a half hours and I'm FREE for the holidays, sort of...

At time of posting, you must have already begun, so you'll see this afterward when you check back in with this thread. Hope it went well. smile.gif

It feels great having finished term yesterday and seeing the school bus stop at the house across the street this morning. They're still in school, and I'm not. Na na na na NAA na.

On one hand, we missed ya!  On the other hand, you saved a TON of money staying away from the deal threads lately.  OMG, it's been crazy!

BTW, for you newer team members, you should check out Antberg's old (standard) avatar.  His current one only makes sense if you see the old one.

It requires much focus and concentration... and the absence of a social life.

We have.  We can start our own cult almost - or not.

LOL, one piece of "candy" from her, and you are destroyed.  She is your Kryptonite.

I know... how do you think I got my avatar!  biggrin.gif

LOL, I will happily accept your burnt offerings when we get to the end of the month.  wink.gif

Yes, with waffles indeed.  smile.gif  Not entirely sure what that means, but I think I like the context so I'm going with it.

Keep telling yourself that my friend... but you should know that:

1000

five of the top 10 posters are TMAC members (yourself included).  And for a thread that's got only a handful of active members posting in it, we are the second highest in post count.  Once Jude January kicks in - and we get a spike in membership - you're going to wake up to a very different world my friend.  biggrin.gif

Yup, saw that.  Feeling a little embarrased at all the quotes... redface.gif  In real life, I'm much more modest than it seems here.

Yeah, good idea!  As far as your vacay, I've got a suggestion down below...

Yup!  I am now... though food coma is starting to kick in from the pasta.

I know exactly what you mean.  Maybe it because this thread moves so fast that we experience time dilation?

BTW, if you ever want to have some fun.  Walk up to a random group of professionals and say this:

"Hey, I just heard from John that there are going to be budget cuts and some people have to be let go.  I'll try to find out more, but just a heads up."

Then scurry away before they can respond.  You'd be surprised how spooked people get... even though they don't know you (or which John you're referring to).

LOL, I would go mad.  BTW, speaking of workload, I have a way to speed up production if you're interested.  While you're on vacay, I can go through about a dozen photographs and do all the schiit work of isolating Jude from the backgrounds.

That way, when you get back, all we have to do is compositing and final touch-ups (hue, lighting, etc.).  If you could help with the second part when you get back, I'll handle the isolation in the beginning.

And of course, we can also release the isolated images as a .7z archive of transparent PNGs so people can have a go on their own as well.

Your thoughts?

Not sure how to respond to all of this... but here's the thing Bowei, I think you'll find that the experience of college (including the friends and contacts made there) are ultimately more important than the curriculum.

Intelligent people will seek knowledge and instruction no matter where they are.  So I suspect that you'll get a pretty good education no matter where you go.  wink.gif

But start to take a look at what colleges can offer you outside of the curriculum.  Unless you're pursuing a career in academia or research, what school you went to becomes less and less important as you move up the ladder in life.  I know it seems like everything in your position right now, but you'll find out what I mean later.

And for God's sakes, make friends while you're there.  They will be there for you - as you will be there for them - for the rest of your lives.

At the height of anime thread power, we had 300 posts per day(on average) and 8 members(at most) to ever all make the daily top posters

Thanks, that is why I want to go.

Yea and I hope you don't get the "mono-edition" like I did biggrin.gif

On a good note, I just tried the M6 even though I already decided they are lousy. I have another M6 sitting around here that I got as a throw in for free on a trade I did once. I was amazed how different the two sound. They have clearly improved the driver and although WAY too harsh for my ears, they don't sound half bad. Now I won't feel so bad when I give them away....... Now I have to go to my thread and take back all of the trash talk I have made about the M6..... rolleyes.gif
